First of all, yes i searched! Nothing i have found has made any difference. I'm hoping someone here has some input to offer.

I just got a MS-1762 (MSI GT70) barebones laptop from Power Notebooks. It's equipped with an i7-3610QM, 8GB Ram, 675M w/ optimus. The laptop functions GREAT with bf3 (~70fps+ on high preset). When i try to play CS Source i am only getting ~80-120FPS as if it's running off the integrated graphics. The indicator on my laptop turns orange indicating that it is using the dedicated card but it just isn't running normally. On the laptop i am replacing with an i5-2430M and 6850M i am ALWAYS at 175-200FPS with the same graphics properties set in source and like a max of 30fps in BF3 so i'm using BF3 as a benchmark for myself right now. According to the optimus test tools my dedicated card is being turned on when in source but is not being fully utilized. Every other game i have tried has worked normally including CS:GO, BF3, L4D2, Dead Island

I have tried several different driver revisions with no success. I have set CS Source/hl2.exe to use the dedicated card in the Nvidia control panel and tried changing a bunch of settings in there. I've tried disabling the integrated card which didn't end well. Can anyone add any insight on specific problems with cs source? Even though it's an old game it's what i play most often. Playing with sub 100fps isn't even worth having a gaming laptop

Just to add to what i said.

monitoring GPU load with bf3 is ~100% continuously

monitoring GPU load with CS: Source is ~40% continuously and never jumps up above 50%

Why would you need more FPS on Source. I limited mine to 70 FPS instinctively. 28% usage lol

Well, it's not like a "fluid" 80fps. It's choppy with tons of screen tearing and drops below 80.

However... It may not be related to optimus. On a whim i forced -dxlevel 8 in source and i'm getting ~270fps. When default level of "dx9+" is used i get terrible fps. Lesser cards are capable of running dx9 in source just fine. I don't know where to go from here.
