    Hi Guys
ive only just got my m15x and as a new gamer i thought it about time i started playing my first few games so started with the orange box.
all 3 half-life and team fortress work fine with great graphics but when i try and load portal the opening advert with the head runs but then it closes with the error "engine error could not load library client"
any ideas how i rectifie this.
    cheers
    jim

A restart might solve your problem.

ive tried all that but with no joy.
it loads the opener fine every time but you then see the screen flicker and then close and then the error box appears.

Updated to the latest version? Try to re-install it, or run steam in off-line\on-line mode. Hope this helps :)

I had a problem with TF2 not loading correctly mine was doing the same flicker thing... but i finally figured out that if i hit escape DURING the first sequence with the "valve in the guys head thing" then it worked fine. I have no idea why or how this works but it does... just something to try

Did you try reinstalling Portal? I think it's missing a couple of .dll files it needs to load.

Possibly try deleting the portal local game files and redownload the game.

Also try deleting any SDK files you may have downloaded (they should be in the tools tab).

I recommend using at least 169.25 driver.

I think you already did, but make sure you have turned on an loaded HL2: Episode 2 so that the engine is initialized (this shouldn't be necessary).
