Just received my copy of Orange Box for PC from the BBuy $25 sale (yes, the Best Buy economy shipping takes 2 weeks, its stupid), and it takes 15GB to install, WOAH!

It's 4 games, what did you expect?

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Yeah that seems right. Hell Gears of War is 10 gbs.
-
Oh I expected it to be big, but man, thats the biggest game I've ever had on a computer. No complaints, just surprised.
Repurchased WoW again for $10 on the sale, and installed it, and now just have no desire to play it. Dunno why, after a 2 year break it has no appeal to play again, running around doing quests in a virtual world for virtual gold with 13 year olds running around smashing me to pieces. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Forgot to mention to make sure to defragment.

I bought WoW on some random impulse, I played it for one week, I uninstalled it and then put it away. It sucked. I then remembered that only FPS's can hold my attention for any period of time.
Anyways, Flight Simulator X is 15gb by itself. -
This trend is getting worrying.
Especially for us laptop users, since our hard drives aren't very big. I have actually stopped buying new games since I only have about 400 MB free space LOL.
I wish there was an option for smaller install sizes, especially for games like Crysis. I won't be using the high-res textures anyway, so I might as well save the hard drive space and not install them. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Not all games. Call of duty is only 6 gigs and company of heroes is less than 4.
-
Keep in mind that not so long ago 120 gb was the max you would see in notebook drives.. what are they up to now.. 250gb?
-
Well 15gb for 4 games is a little over 3 gb a game (on average). That's not bad at all.
-
Thats why im getting the 250gb hd for christmas. I have about 10 games that arn't installed in steam like Bioshock, lost planet, the hitman series, and COD 1+2. Not to mention games that are cd based like bf 2 and 2142, quake 2 and 4, and c&c 3 and first decade.

-
I'm pretty sure it doesn't actually use that much disk space. For some reason, anything involving Steam is just unable to accurately predict disk space usage.
-
I'm more worried about my music collection than video game size... I have about 44 gigs of music and more coming.

-
FSX is 15GB, and with addons it easily gets up to 25-30GB !
-
When I want to install The Orange Box from a DVD it tells me it actually needs 27 gigs of space..

Re: FSX - my FS9 install plus all the addons etc. I had reached more than 40GB.... -
get a 1tb hard drive lol
-
i keep all my media on a external drive, so im lucky like that... although ill be installing games onto the notebook HDD.
how do you get two HDD's into the inspiron 1520, or is it impossible? -
Blacksite Area 51 takes 11 gigs. And personally, I think it sucks. SO the Orange Box, which is awesome deserves even 20 gigs.
-
Stranglehold was 13gb. I installed all of Orange Box, but meanwhile I've only played Portal so far, can't stop COD4
-
I tend to install games on external drives. As much as I love playing CS with my touchpad at the airport, its just better to free up the room and use an external. Load times are not bad.
Also, how do the newer Source games run on the NVS140M? -
i downloaded them by steam, so no idea if this would work, but you dont really need all of them installed... tf2 id keep installed, but hl2,ep1,ep2, i would uninstall as soon as they are completed, and maybe only install one at a time... as id play them in order. but on my desktop space is not a concern so i just installed the whole lot of them an left it.
Orange Box is ridiculously huge
