I'm stuck with a teeny detail here, I've already ordered in order to take advantage of a coupon, so if I need to change something I hope Dell will cooperate.

    My configuration was as follows:
    Pentium M 740
    512 MB DDR2
60, or 80, I dunno, who cares, GB HDD
8x DVD-ROM (buying an NEC 6500A from the egg)
    GeForce 6800

Now the hard part, the screen. I've heard so much bad rap about the WUXGA, flickering and stuff like that, and I'm not so sure I can play UT2004, FarCry, HL2/CS: Source, and DOOM 3, with all the eye candy at 1920x1200 (WUXGA) like I can on my desktop at 1280x1024.
I chose the WXGA, solely so that I'd be able to game with all the details, all the AA/AF I want, for a year or two to come, without having to turn any settings down. If I do call/canel and reorder and switch to WUXGA, will it be a hit on gaming performance? I really don't want to creep under 40FPS, and I don't want buyers remorse over not getting a potentially better screen (normal WXGA VS. TruBrite WUXGA). God, I wish they offered WSXGA on this thing.

EDIT: Well, I guessed right, SXGA (1280x1024)is 1310720 pixels, and WXGA is only slightly lower, but I have another question, do most games support widescreen resolutions like 1440x900 and 1920x1200?

I dont think it would take a hit on the performance getting the truelife screen, I know alot of ppl. that are using them.

I was worried about all the issues with the sparkle effect so i opted not to get the TruBrite WUXGA and I still like my screen I had the other version or at least the HP equivelent and the glossy surface was nice but it was like a mirror with certain lighting conditions.

as far as the resolution my screen is 1400x900 and thats what im playing Splinter Cell Chaos Theory at and it has no problems with every thing set to high or on.

I know I can drop res, but then it is upscaled, so I gain FPS but also gain a nasty blocky effect with it, same applies for desktop LCDs
Running a game at WXGA would be similar to running it on SXGA, which the 6800 can certainly handle, but with WUXGA being near 1080p, if not higher, thats almost two times as many pixels as WXGA.
    Anyone else got any ideas?

if you post this in the Dell section you might get more help but I'm telling you I know a ton of ppl that are playing games with the truelife screen and love it and have no problems.

man go here and check out what other ppl are saying about this notebook, http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=77913

It rocks no matter which screen you get seriously! and being that you can O/C and get a 3DMark05 score damn neer what a straight from factory XPS2 gets thats incredible.. just thought I would throw my two cents in.
