Quick question folks, I just purchased a 144hz 24 inch monitor to use with my Razer blade 14'' laptop. Only to discover that my laptop is not capable of outputing 144hz "Only HDMI out, need Dual link DVI". Are you guys aware of laptops that are able to output to a 144hz monitor?

You need either a DisplayPort/mini-DisplayPort/Thunderbolt or HDMI 1.4b on the laptop for 120+ Hz to work properly. Otherwise I don't think 120 Hz will work at all.

I would return the monitor if that's still an option. Any 144 Hz monitor worth their salt should come with a DisplayPort these days.

EDIT: No monitor will come with a Thunderbolt port. I only mentioned it because a Thunderbolt port can double as a mini-DisplayPort, and as long as you can get a mini-DP to DP cable you can use 120+ Hz monitors with your laptop.

rhutor just named no less than two ways and you seem to already be aware of yet a third. if you're referring to the ASUS VG248QE, it has HDMI, DVI, and displayport inputs. there's plenty of gaming laptops that either have or can convert to one of those three. regardless it's normally prudent to do this type of research before pulling the trigger.

I have the benq xl2420te, and I did my research prior to purchasing. What caught me off guard was the HDMI not being able to output 120 hz, as i read articles identifying that this is possible.

Yeah it's unfortunate most sites aren't too clear on the details which are actually important. HDMI 1.4a does NOT support 120 Hz, while 1.4b does.

Regarding 1.4B is this requirement specific to the interface or the cable used? So I can try and figure out if it's my laptop that's the issue, or the cable being used.
