Hi first of all I posted in this section as there are more people who check around on here compared to the mac section of the forum

I have a Mac Mini with Windows 7 installed and looking to overclock the 6630m. I have seen some info on overclocking the 6630m in general but nothing specific to the Mac Mini.. I have heard that a lot of the usual overclock tools in Windows don't work with it. I know it has been done and it is only possible to overclock a little so if anyone here has any advice it would be great.
    Cheers!

Yep I had just came across that. It works perfect and I was surprised how straight forward it was! Keeping the voltage at 0.9 (stock) I put clocks to those regular for a 6650 (600Core 800Memory)... keeping in mind the Mac mini also uses DDR5.. and not DDR3. Stock clocks were set at 485Core 600Mem. Behcnmark scores in 3d mark Vantage increased from 3100 to 4500! Temps were also not affected with the card getting to a max of 76'C.

I was also surprised how low Apple originally had the Memory clocked to only 600!.. I since backed down the Memory speed to 700 from 800 as I am worried if there is a good reason Apple kept the memory clocked so much lower than even a stock 6630m should be..
Anyone has any ideas why they would do that with the memory??

Controls heat. The Mac Mini doesn't really have a great cooling system to handle higher memory clocks.

Yeah I would have thought that but the temps really didn't rise after raising the memory clocks.. With stock fan speeds, the temps are kept in the 70's. I am also going to manually rise fan speeds to keep it as low as possible..

whatever cooling system a Mac Mini has, it should be better than my 13.3" VAIO SA's. i have OC'd mine to 725MHz core/945MHz memory/904mV voltage, and the laptop can still manages the heat (about 88C when playing Battlefield 3 for an hour). if you can manually alter fan speed, do so to keep the temperature down and then OC more :D

Yeah I downloaded an application that can manually control the fan speeds. Its weird as I have to switch it on in the Max OS and then restart into Windows.. It keeps running at the set speed. I am able to keep the temps into the high 60's/low 70's now. So all should be good. Hopefully...
Btw what benchmark scores did you get for yours? I haven't attempted such a high overclock...

i have only done 3DMark06 benchmarks, went from ~7400 to ~9500, so i'd say about 25% increase in performance on average (plus the respective increase in temperature when gaming). my current OC was not stable at the stock voltage (900mV), so i had to increase it by 4mV to make it stable. if you want to be on the safe side, try OCing with the stock voltage until it becomes unstable, then decrease the clocks by 5MHz or 10MHz, and you're good to go.

Fishy I've seen has made to the chart Overclock 6630M, this overclock is stable?

You got to Clock core 700 Mhz and 900 Mhz Memory?

Sorry for my English, I'm Spanish. :(

    Greetings to all.

Try to use the mini with the bottom cover unplugged and raised for better airflow :) lower temp=less crashes/more stability
