Hi,
If one's overclock settings are too high for a game or stress test, will the program just crash or does the game/stress test application apply your stock settings?

If your core clock is too high, the game or application will freeze. If the RAM is too high, you'll see visual artifacts.

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
My apologies for my ignorance.
I was using FurMark to stress test my GPU (2060 GTX - mobile), at times the core clock speed was fluctuating between 1535Mhz to 1675Mhz. Is this an indication my GPU is struggling to run the GPU at these overlcock settings? When, I run Unigine I don't notice such drops in speeds. -
You never get full clock speeds with Furmark, both AMD and Nvidia drivers will throttle GPUs when running it as it was killing cards a few years ago. Use Unigine, 3DMark, game benchmarks etc as a more realistic test.Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

How do you know or can tell that your GPU is throttling when stress testing?
-
Furmark will damage your card..
Why on earth would you use furmark...try catzilla or something -
Use MSI Afterburner and enable the graphics which show clock speed, also try GPU-Z for monitoring. All newer Nvidia GPUs will show "throttling" to some extent because of the way GPU boost works.
Overclock too high =crash/override?
