WELL IM NEW HERE, FIRST POST!! YAY :D well it all started when I bought my new lappy and it came with my beloved 7400 with 512mb then I updated my drivers and my 7400 said it had 256 weird, I started searching for the answer 2 my problem :p i found out that it was the bios, so i reinstalled the older bios, then i started looking for the right drivers for my 7400 I ended up installing the original factory drivers, i also installed nforce and found out i could OC my baby... SWEET i said... lets give it a try... I downloaded a few tools 2 monitor my temps. and oc'ed the gpus frequencies with the autodetect feature when I found out it went up 2 516 mhz/836mhz i was suprised everything works like a charm and games, well they run GREAT!!!

I dont know if this has been done bfore... if it has pls commet maybe u can give me some pointers...

What is your notebook model ? A Go7400 with 512MB of ram , that is definitely an overkill for a Go 7400, I mean there a plenty of 7600s and even 7900GS s with 256MB.

I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but a Go 7400 is not exactly a gaming card, and I really don't think overcloking it would give you a huge performance increase

If your notebook is a 12” or a 13.3” then I strongly advice against overcloking due to cooling issues.

Ok, from the specs it is a 17”. So you won't have that many heat problems like I said before. But still keep an eye on your temps.

Can you please post your results, before and after overclocking ? maybe some game benchmarks or 3D marks ?

Those temps are quite good for an overclock (I've seen much higher temps at stock speeds with faster cards). BTW what was the stock core/mem ?

It's really unlikely that DDR2 vram installed on laptop goes so high. I've never seen DDR2 mobile cards go higher than 940-960MHz.

The GeForce Go7400 does not have more than 128MB of dedicated memory - period. Yours is 128MB dedicated + 384MB shared via TurboCache.

That's a nice overclock though, do you have any 3DMark scores for us? It'd be cool to see a before/after.

must be, because my x1600 barely goes above 400mhz because its GDDR2.

Well, with my X1600 I get artifacts over 468MHz (936MHz real). It's strange that you can't go over that frequency. You should go easily over 450MHz (900MHz)...

XPS M1210 with a a Go 7400 256MB Turbocache (64dedicated 196shared) scores around 800 3Dmark06 points. 957 is roughly about 20% increase. I'd say that is a good overclock. I think you can easily surpass X1400 performance level with yours.

Is it possible to get over 1000Mhz with GDDR2 memory? Seems not.
I assume you're getting doubled clocks (DDR) on screen, so it's really between 400-500Mhz.
That score is pretty good for a 7400 though...congratulations gpu_maniac.
By the way...where are you from?

Any laptop with a 7900 nVidia or above will serve you more than well, 7400s are not good enough for newest games. That Sager is really tempating if you are willing to pay the price ($,battery,heat)....if you have money to burn there are SLI (dual cards) options around from Alienware and others.
Also consider the 512MB 7600s, ASUS has some good options there.
    Good luck.

That's all you have to do to be honest. That sounds like a decent score for a Go7400 to me.
