What is your notebook model ? A Go7400 with 512MB of ram
, that is definitely an overkill for a Go 7400, I mean there a plenty of 7600s and even 7900GS s with 256MB.
I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but a Go 7400 is not exactly a gaming card, and I really don't think overcloking it would give you a huge performance increase
If your notebook is a 12” or a 13.3” then I strongly advice against overcloking due to cooling issues. -
my notebook is a dv8275la its only available at the latin american market.
-
Ok, from the specs it is a 17. So you won't have that many heat problems like I said before. But still keep an eye on your temps.
Can you please post your results, before and after overclocking ? maybe some game benchmarks or 3D marks ? -
im currently downloading 3dmark to c how i do, (since im a noob
) but my temps havent gone up that much I've been constatly cheking them when the gpu was stock the temps wø░ around 39-40°C they currently are at 41-43°C
what do you think? -
Those temps are quite good for an overclock (I've seen much higher temps at stock speeds with faster cards). BTW what was the stock core/mem ?
-
the stock core/mem was 450/700mhz
Check this image of my desktop it has all the info i have so far

3dmark scores COMING SOON... -
you can OC your 7400 even more. my highest clock speed is currently core/mem(531/1060)
-
i will try it hope i dont fry it

you don't have 512mb gpu you have a 256mb gpu with some crappy turbocache vram.. 7400 definitely do not come with 512mb.. overclocking = teh ****

The GeForce Go7400 does not have more than 128MB of dedicated memory - period. Yours is 128MB dedicated + 384MB shared via TurboCache.
That's a nice overclock though, do you have any 3DMark scores for us? It'd be cool to see a before/after. -

Is it possible to get over 1000Mhz with GDDR2 memory? Seems not.
I assume you're getting doubled clocks (DDR) on screen, so it's really between 400-500Mhz.
That score is pretty good for a 7400 though...congratulations gpu_maniac.
By the way...where are you from? -
huge score for a X1400!
what are the clock speeds? is the laptop a lenovo? -
Thanks By Tor Im from Guatemala Central America, even the 7400 has its limits im pretty happy with mine, im playing most of the games smoothly and with a great video quality.
but I really feel the need of upgrading
so I might get a new notebook soon, Im, that 20 inch sager its a big temptation
-
Any laptop with a 7900 nVidia or above will serve you more than well, 7400s are not good enough for newest games. That Sager is really tempating if you are willing to pay the price ($,battery,heat)....if you have money to burn there are SLI (dual cards) options around from Alienware and others.
Also consider the 512MB 7600s, ASUS has some good options there.
Good luck.
