I'd advice against over clock as well. how much performance can you really get from OC, 10% max while the risk is too great. I personally did fry my videocard because of OC

Well the thing is im only getting 4388 on 3dmark06 at default settings. When other people on these forms are getting 5000 using the same config. So if anyone could give me some better drivers it would be appreciated

Mate what drivers do you currently have? I think theres an unoffical ati CCC release of 9.2 which is about the latest i can think of, i dont think ati really seem to support there mobility gpu's very much which means we are dependant on external sources.

I had my HD3650 overclocked to 780core/850mem and the maximum I reached was 4500. Those are higher clocks than the HD3670 which is just a factory overclocked 3650. Unless you already have a cpu score of close to 2k your total 3dmark with that card will never reach 5000.
If you really want to go that route and take the risk of frying your laptop, get the catalyst 8.10, mobility mod them and use the amd gpu clock tool to do the overclocking.

Why not catalyst 8.12? I was thinking of doing this to underclock my hd3670 because it gets so hot.

Because the drivers that came after the 8.10 don't work with AMD gpu clock tools.

Great, thanks for the info. Installed the drivers and amd gpu clock. Seems to be working. How do I double check that underclocking worked, i.e. a program other than amd gpu clock that displays the core and memory speeds?

    I downloaded GPU-Z, which shows:

    gpu core clock:
ati power play max performance: 337 Mhz
ati power play min performance: 148 Mhz
    gpu mem clock:
ati power play max performance: 396 Mhz
ati power play min performance: 292 Mhz

Then on the main page it states:
    gpu clock 680mhz, memory 800mhz
    default clock 400mhz.

When I use AMD GPU Clock Tool, any small change downwards results in GPU-Z telling me:
    GPU Core clock: 54mhz
    gpu mem clock: 202mhz
i.e. whether I lower it by 1mhz or 10mhz, it always results in these clocks for gpu-z.

Is one of these programs incompatible with my video card or am I misunderstanding something.

any ideas? Anyone who has successfully overclocked/underclocked their HD3670? Would be nice to know whether you used the same programs and how it worked out!

Thanks for the replies. I checked out Everest and its giving me the same info as AMD GPU Clock Tool.

I'll see what happens, now that I lowered the core and mem clocks quite radically, to 70 and 250. Will see if that's fast enough to run Vista. That's my main concern, not scoring high on 3dmark :). Right now atitool is refusing to even start, it just jams up my laptop and shows up in the toolbar, giving the info core&mem: -1.#J MHz when I hover my mouse over it...

    Will keep you guys posted.
