    Hello

I just got my new laptop today, i have noticed the default core clocks on my 5650 is 450 mhz, i've looked around and this ranges from 450 to 650 mhz, my memory clock is 800 mhz which looks normal.

is my card underclocked? i have installed ati gpu clock tool and i am going to play about with the clocks, just wondering why there are different core ranges for this card?

    Thanks

Battery life and heat I suppose. But my 6550M (practically the same) goes to 710/1100 so yeah, crank those clocks as high as they will go. If you don't modify the voltage. At worst you will get a BSOD, at best a 'Driver stopped responding' message.

I use Crysis/Warhead benches looped 10 times to test for stability.

I have a sony with the same graphics card as your Toshiba, and its underclocked to 450

The stable overclock I got for the 5650 is 650 for engine and 900 for memory.

That sucks, so both Sony and Toshiba undervolt it so they have a slightly higher MTBF rating. That's cheap.

Yeah i thought it was underclocked.

I've overclocked to 650 and had a little play, my question is, is this safe to keep it at 650? the temp hasn't risen at all.... i just don't wanna keep it at a clock frequency it is not supposed to be at....

    Thanks

if the temps are the same I dont see whats the problem in getting the clocks higher.

As long as the GPU temp isn't past 80 C all the time during gaming, then you're good. If it is past 80 C, however, then it'll have a pretty significant impact on the chip's lifespan.

I recently just got an acer with the 6550m. The driver installed is the 5600/5700 series driver. I did a fresh install when i first got the laptop because I have windows 7 ultimate and wanted to use that. I can upgrade to the 6550m drivers but I lose like all my screen resolutions. I was wondering if the drivers should be changed to the 6550m for optimal performance or if the 5600/5700 driver is better to use.

Another thing what do you set the voltage at to run such high clocks? I go past 700/900 I always get problems. Any help would be good.
