Hello... i am new here XD
    and i m a newbie for overclocking...
    I hav GF 9500MGS 512MB ddr2...
I tried rivatuner 2.24 and EVGA Precision 1.71
i giv up on rivatuner bcz it cant read forceware 185.85...
so i hav EVGA Precision to overclock my graphic card...
    The problems is here...(problem #1)
475/950/400 original status but when I was playing 3D games such as left 4 dead, cod4, grid and so on... it shown 513/1036/400...
and den when i overclock it to 495/990/436
and test it wif 3D games... it shown 540/1080/440....
how come it is like tat????
oooo yea.... my max temperature is 73-75C during hot day... if cool day is 72-73C... idle temperature is 58-60C...

    (problem #2)
I did conduct an experiment tat i overclock my graphic card higher (like more than 25%)...
I can play GRID using 800x600... wif some setting high and some low... it runs smoother than b4...
however when i play Left4dead 800x600 wif all setting maximum.... it is very lag but cant c any artifacts... but if i din overclock my graphic card or overclock slightly 10% only... i can run Left4dead 800x600 wif all setting maximum smoothly...

So, currently, i hav my it run 495/990/436(but it shown 540/1080/440)...

Experts around here pls help me T.T!! sry for my poor english...
    thz...

1st issue: I think that this just has to do with Rivatuner adding a constant to the clock speeds. You can double check your speeds by using GPU-Z. Temps look good though.

2ns issue: Some games don't like overclocking.

    I heard this software b4...
and dey said it show different reading sometime compared to other diagnotic tools...

I found GPU-Z and do some research on it myself...
dey said it shown wrong info compared to other diagnostic tools...
i think i shud try it more often and see the result...

    OK i tried it out...
it shown the exact overclock gpu stated... 495/990/436
    and shown correct temperature...
but i m not sure issit correct =.=...
bcz i used rivatuner n evga precision to check... dey both show 540/1080/440(actual number tat i overclock is 495/990/436)!!

I would just like to warn you about overclocking. It is not good for your notebook gpu, or for the entire notebook itself. It may run too hot. If ever you push through with it, always watch your temperature.

thz for the advise.... but i din overclock it a lot... i guess it might be OK???
and i used rmclock to lowered down my voltage... the processor run at 33C when idle... if cool place it run about 28C to 32C....
and the graphic card if i do not overclock it... it run at 70-72C
after i overclock it... it run slightly 1-2C more.. and sometime remain 70-72C...
    idle temp is 58-60C....

Temps look good, but there's always an inherent risk involved with OCing (because it voids your warranty).

I call BS - if you're overclocking by software, there is no way in hell a hardware tech can tell unless you left your overclocked settings in.

DarkSilver, I personally use Nvidia System Tools because it comes from Nvidia themselves, and integrates nicely into my Nvidia Control Panel.
GPU-Z always confirms what NST is using, as well, so I swear by that.
I also noticed the weird clock readings when using RivaTuner - I personally don't use it because of that.

As for the gameplay, some games are more sensitive to overclocking than others. Make sure you're stability testing using something like ATiTool, too.

Temps are just fine - the danger zone is commonly around 85 degrees Celsius.

Use whatever works for you - if EVGA and Riva are giving weird readings, switch over to Nvidia System Tools. Get it here.

And like I said, make sure you test for stability regardless of your clocks - ATiTool is particularly rigorous, and will tell you when it finds artifacts.

First of all you should be able to run Left 4 Dead at least at 1280x800 all max no AA or AF. I am running it all maxed out at 1280x800 with 2xAA 4xAF and its going great. I dont know about GRID but i know its much more demanding.

For overclocking your card the best combo for me is GPUTool for overclocking and GPUz or HWMonitor for temperature monitoring. GPUTool is the new Ati Tool, same developer , some new features and it has artifacts scaner. It's still in early beta so i wouldn't use the find max values but overclock on my own.

About overclocking as long as temperatures are not really above stock you should have a problem, since you are not increasing voltage. Also consider that the memory doesnt have temperature sensor so i wouldnt overclock it more than 20%. And one last thing overclock on demand, only when you are playing games etc. that way you dont overstress the card for low demanding 3D app and also always monitor your temperatures.

    i got 510/1020/450 using GPUTool....
but i dunno wat is "set clock on change"??
I dunno issit stable o not... i try the test for stablity... it show no errors...

GPUtool didnt work for me. It shows some awkward clocks. Like only 130mhz for shader clock. Evga is better for me...

hmmm many people with this card have a big big problem with "autodownclocking". Maybe your card do the something like that? Can u play in window mode that you can look at your stats if you playing ?

i checked the the graph and it shows the shader/core/memory run stable wif my overclocked graphic card...
but in the game is actually run lagger...
if i dun overclock my graphic card... it runs faster compared to my overclock graphic card...

Try turning off Vsync, AA and multicore rendering and set AF to bilinear and see if that helps. Also i've heard some people have issues with 185.85 try some older driver or dox's optimized driver.

    it wont help obviously...
bcz i play wif AA 8C, shader very high, texture high, effect high, multicore rendering enable, page pool high, 800x600, Trilliear AF.... AND IT RUN SMOOTH(NO LAG AT ALL) B4 OVERCLOCK!!!
    However, overclock make it lagger....
But the other games run better after overclock!!
except this LEFT 4 DEAD!! ARGH!!

WAT IS DOX's optimized driver??? I hope it helps T.T!
after i read some of the notes of tat dox thingy...
it said nid to uninstall my graphic card driver?? how i do it?
