So I am using RivaTuner and I overclock it to my preferred MHz. So, when I press OK and the RivaTuner menu disappears, is my GPU still overclocked? Should I be seeing RivaTuner.exe in my Task Manager?

It should, such that if you open the menu again it will be overclocked. In my case I remember having problems with Riva Tuner, it was not overclocking my system. So all my work with overclocking was done using AtiTools, which I think is far easier to use than Riva Tuner in terms of overclocking.

    I hope it helps.

Download GPU-Z to check if your overclock is in effect.

Or download Everest and create an OSD so that you can see it all the time on display.

Agreed, download GPU-Z to see how strong your GPU after the overclock and the temperature as well.
To test stability of the OCed GPU, you can use ATItool to test stability or something like 3Dmark06 to test the benchmark.

    You're using Nvidia or Ati?
If you're on Nvidia, use nvidia system tools(ntune) instead of others because it is the safest and official for Nvidia GPU.
If you're on ATI, I have no idea but I used CCC for overclock ATI GPU.

RivaTuner does not support the mobile platform. As DarkSilver said, use nVidia System Tools.

Where'd you hear that from? I used Rivatuner on my old HP Pavillion that had a 8400m GS.
