Hi, I have an HP dv6-7000 with a 2GB NVidia GT650m, and using the new 304.48 drivers, I am easily able to OC using MSI Afterburner to +135/+1000. However, I thought I would be able to OC it more after an official driver update but the sliders still can't go any further. Will there ever be a way to overclock the GT650m past this? Judging from the temps I'm getting, there's so much more headroom.

You aren't getting artifacts or anything? I think the numbers are MSI Afterburner's own limits, but given that it's the only thing we can use to oc the card, we don't have any other choices for now.

PLUS 1000 MEM CLOCK WHAT THE-? Oh wait this is GDDR5 isn't it? :p

My card is basically an over-clocked version of yours stuck with slower memory. So you can easily pump that core clock up to 950MHz as that is the Turbo Boost mine will reach comfortably.

    What temps do you get?

I haven't tested thoroughly enough but I think I may be able to squeeze another 50-100MHz out of the core clock and up to 200MHz on the memory. Again I haven't tested this enough yet to be sure.

I can't unlock max clocks for the P0-performance level 2 tab, it only works for the two other performance states. +135/+1000 is still the max i can achieve for now. Lots of headroom looking at temps.

Will we ever have access to gpu voltages on this soldered thing ?????????

It shows in my machine that I can go as high as +2000mhz on the memory on mine, but what the hell it might melt my card. Lol.

The only way I guess we caould overvolt on these is to do a vBIOS-level overclock. That's how I used to do it on my former rig.

Right now I have mine set on +135 for the core and just +500 on the memory. I got GDDR5 though. So that's about 970MHz on the core and 2500MHz Memory. I'm comfortable with the GPU heat but it's the CPU heat I'm worried about and since they share the same heat pipes, I don't think I'd go further than this. At least until someone figures out how to open up these laptops or the service manual comes out. I'd have switched to a better TIM by that time to manage the heat better.

So yeah, neon10th, since it's fairly a powerful card it wouldn't need to be OC'd too much. Let's inform each other as well about these stuff. :D

    P2625 with +135mhz/+1000mhz on 304.48 drivers.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2720QM Processor,CLEVO CO. W150ER score: P2625 3DMarks

Cpu turbo is deactivated on my Clevo so if Physics and combined test scores seem low to you it's normal.

As for the gpu temp it did not break 69°C during 3dmark11...

Clevo W170ER cooling system is weird, gpu doesn't heat at all but cpu heats far more...while they are sharing the same fan.

    And i can't do a low-level OC since i can't extract vBios.

And yeah the memory slider can go +2000 mhz in nvidia inspector but i did not try. +1000mhz seem already huge to me.

I have a similar experience as Kallogan, my CLEVO W170ER (however with I7 3610 and native res of 1080p), 3DMark 11 got up to P2733 with a graphics score of 2536 without any problems. Highest temperatures of 72 C were obtained by repeatedly running furmark. (Running for a longer time reduces temperature below 70 C.) The base performance of the card is generally barely enough (20-25 fps from Notebookcheck) to run several modern games on high/ultra 1080p settings, so a little overclocking might be enough to run these games fluently at native resolution, nice!

Similar results here. Except I'm getting mid to low 70s max with this OC, according to MSI Afterburner. However, I think +135 is 835mhz rather than 970mhz because of throttling (according to Kombustor) and the memory is 3000mhz. I might try that NVidia Inspector program. I really hope the sliders are unlocked. I'm not getting a single artifact either:

How the heck are you managing +100% on memory?

If I tried that my DDR3 would explode :S

What are safe limits for DDR3 memory clocks?

You have to unlock MSI Afterburner.

Go to your MSI install directory and poke around for the file
    Code:
    MSIAfterburner.cfg
    Open it using notepad.

Look for a line that looks like
    Code:
    UnofficialOverclockingEULA
    And make it look like
    Code:
UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
    After that, look for
    Code:
    UnofficialOverclockingMode =
    and make it
    Code:
    UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1

Nope thats for NVidia too. You can't overclock at all if you don't change the config file. So I already did that and it only let's me get to +135/+1000. And no it's not a 100% OC of the memory because it went from 1000mhz to 1500mhz, which is 2000mhz to 3000mhz effective. And yeah I'm using the GDDR5 version of the card.

Really? That's weird cause the setting is in the AMD hardware abstraction section of the config file, so it makes no sense that this is valid for Nvidia as well.

I overclocked using MSI Afterburner without changing any of the values in the .cfg file. I'll bench this with the 304 driver with my OC settings in a bit.

    EDIT:

Done with the bench. With the 304.48 drivers with the 970mhz/2500mhz Core/mem, I got to 2617 on 3dMark11. It was 2492 with the 301.42 and 915/2500.

2719 is > 2625. So when did you come close to this? from what i understand he's pushing 2740 now or close to it. Its a custom bios that allows him to overclock higher.

NM, your talking about just the graphics score. I guess 3dmark11 must be flawed as there is no way ddr3 is faster than Gddr5. So much for using 3dmark11 as a valid bench.

Naturally my i5 means my physics score brings the whole lot down compared to his i7. Wierd how my DDR3 can keep up with his DDR5 in 3DMark 11!!! I like it though hehe :D

Will this custom BIOS ever be released for any laptop other than the Alienware M14XR2? And will we be able to overvolt?

i've got 550p5c and have problem with 650m. cant' set any P state, except P0 or P8 in nvidia inspector. and if using this card in games after ~10-30 min start workin' gpu throttlin', freq. get down to point ~100-105MHz. how can i fix it? screen with temperatures, freq. and etc.
