    Hello all members ,

    i am having a question regarding overclocking my graphic card.I would like to know the maximum frequency for my card ,

    default = core = 475 MHZ
    default = memory buss = 400 MHZ

    its a Dell Inspiron 1520 with GeForce 8600M GT(256 MB DDR2) Vista Home Premium 32-bit

    can any one please tell me if i should use the drivers provided by Dell ? because nVidia forceware 169+ from nVidia wont install on my system , is there any other drivers that would permit me overclocking and could enhance the capibility of my graphics ? should i force nVidia forceware to install as GeForce 8600 GT ? :confused:

    Help and advice would be grealty appreciated :)

    Thankyou Members :)

    u can use the 169.04 ones wit the modded inf and they should work and every card is different. to see the max frequencies increase 5mhz at a time using an overclock utility and stop when artifacting starts

    Not to be offensive, but if you really really take a look around the forum, you would of notice we have tons of thread on the answer I am just about to give you.

    1) We can recommend you set of frequencies for your card as a suggestion, but each and every card is different when it goes to overclocking; some just performs better than other, so try it yourself and find the highest/stablest setting for your card. FYI, my Vostro 1500 which is the same as 1520 can be pushed only to 590/490 before artifacts, most of the other people get around that number as well.

    2) 169.xx Drivers have better performance and optimization, I assumed that you can't install them because you forgot to apply the moded inf to the driver folder. You can get it at laptopvideo2go.com, I got the link, just select a driver and download it along with the moded inf, which should be a green link at the top of each thread.

    Hope this helps.
