Hello everyone, I'm using ATI TRAY TOOLS at the moment to overclock my graphics card. Whenever I move the slider up a few mhz and then click apply, the slider returns to its default position. This is also the same for AMD GPU tool where whenever I move the slider up one mhz, it immediately returns back to its default. I'm on VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32 BIT and I'm using MobilityModded Catalyst 8.9 drivers.
Could I have some suggestions to this problem please?
    Thank you!

Don't use ati tray tool. Download AMD GPU clock tool it works way better, you can keep ATT for artifact hunting...

I have both tools but as I said, the problem is that whenever I move the sliders and click on 'set clock' or 'apply clock' the sliders just return back to their default speeds i.e. 365 mhz start, I move it up 10 mhz, click set clock, returns back to 365 mhz

What kind of a performance boost are people seeing with overclocking this card. And how is the heat management?

None of those tools work, is there like an overclock lock on laptops or something? My laptop is a TOSHIBA A300D-15B if that little bit of information is worth anything to anyone trying to solve my problem :/.

I had the exact same problem until I installed Power Strip and it overclocks my 3650 without a problem.

I am trying to do this too. I downloaded and am using both GPUz and AMD gpu clock tool. But I am getting strange numbers out of this. I assume this has to do with the fact that the card is being downclocked when not used. SO how do I take this into account when trying to overclock?

Edit - Nevermind, I just found this thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=258569&highlight=overclock+3650

BTW, I just selected and downloaded the latest version of catalyst for the regular radeon 3650 (not the mobile catalyst), and it seemed to install just fine. Is this normal now?

your not supposed to use the regular catalyst for mobile cards, your supposed to download them but then mod them into moblity drivers with mobility modder

yea i get different downclocked rates from gpu-z and amd clocktool. gpu-z says they are 297 and 247 but amd clock tool says they are 109 and 396. i think only that powerstrip thing works with the mobility hd3650

I tried overclocking and the card is behaving weirdly:
I OC'ed all the the way to 800/900 and the card works fine but crashes when I come back to the desktop and I have to ard reboot the laptop... What's causing this?

Thing is that the guides state it will fail, and then to mod the extracted files. My installation did not fail. Instead, it seemed to load just fine. To test it I've played Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl - with the latest patch and static lighting and many detailed turned down at 1440x900 I was getting 35-50 FPS. Not too shabby.

I ended up using the mobilty modder - although catalyst seemed to run and install the drivers fine, it didn't actually. So I modified the extracted files, and installed the latest catalyst drivers just fine. No change AFAI can tell.

I didn't unfortunately. These programs really don't work well with Vista 64. I think that amd gpu clock tool could work, but the interface and numbers were too wonky and I crashed my compy so I decided not to bother for now. The other thing is that since the temperature sensor is either not activated or not present I can't monitor temps, so I don't feel overly comfortable OCing.

I tried atitool and rivatuner, both could read the frequency but could not change it. I'll check out everest.
