FurMark or OCCT are the best way to max out GPU temps. On a laptop, where the GPU and CPU generally share the same cooler, you probably want to run Prime95 as well, to heat up CPU (thus stressing the whole cooling system) if you want to find something truly 100% stable. Also, OCCT is better for memory artifact testing than ATItool, and also stresses the system. Prime95 + OCCT is just as good as Prime95 + Furmark + ATItool (furmark doesn't have artifact testing, though it will heat the GPU slightly hotter than OCCT).

I agree although OCCT is pretty evil to a system. I get blue-screens half the time I run it rofl..there is stress testing then there is death testing aka OCCT :D

Once artifacts start to appear, it usually mean that the card has reach it maximum potential overclocked value. Just keep increasing the value little by little (preferably by 5 MHz each time) until artifacts start to appear. For example if artifacts start to appear @ GPU Clock - 500 MHz, you might want to keep it at a lower value like 475 MHz.

Better yet, just use GPUTool built-in stability test. Click on the "Find Max" to find either the GPU or Memory Clock maximum value (it will run to check for stability and artifacts). As for temperature monitoring, you could use HWMonitor.

Generally, I've found that GPU clocks have next to nothing to do with artifacts. If you turn the GPU clocks up too high the video drivers and any programs you're using to test will crash before you start seeing artifacts. It's turning the video RAM up too high that causes the artifacts.

Also, you're thinking ATItool. He's using GPU tool to change his clocks, and GPU tool doesn't have any automatic overclocking. He was using ATItool solely for the artifact detection.

Okay ended up having to use modded 8.10 ccc then upgrade to 10.10 with modified inf adding my graphics card under display drivers now i cant use msi it says invalid display driver wrapper thing and never starts and furmark doesnt work either it says i got wrong drivers but gputool works fine.... should i stick wit this or switch to 8.10 where msi worked to?

why don't you just install the regular non-modified mobility 10.10 drivers available at the AMD website???

Actually artifacts do start to appear when I overclocked my mobility radeon HD 3650 while setting the GPU Clock to 750 MHz (system does not crash though). I guess not all system work the same. Also GPUTool is able to "automatically" find the highest clock speed for your GPU/Memory (just click "Find Max") before artifacts start to appear.

Which overclocking tool are you using? It seems that you're using more than one. Stick to just one that work for your system. Also the latest driver doesn't always equate to being the best. I'm currently using Xtreme-G 10.5m driver (Xtreme-G 10.10m and catalyst 10.10 gives me stuttering in some games). Just install the one that give your system the best performance and stability.

    What's your benchmark score?

    P.S
For your info, I got a score of 460 (600/400) and 535 (700/450) in Furmark. In 3dmark06, I got 3300 (600/400) and 3900 (700/450). I'm using screen resolution of 1280x1024 for the benchmarks by the way. Also my max temps are around 81 °C (600/400) and 84 °C (700/450) when stressed for 20 mins using Furmark.

Reviving this thread (pls dont hate):

    HD3650
0 - Default clock speeds are 450/500. Underlocked from 600/500
1 - ATItool will show 1/2 Core clock and 1/4 memory clock (good with cat 8.10 back in Vista x32)
2 - MSIAferburner: Need to change the "enable unofficial overclocking" Value of 0 to 1 at MSIAfterburner.cfg file.
3 - GPUtool seems to work fine

So, does any1 just tryed to do this in W7 x64?, CCC version?, Using what tool?, wut about temp issues?
