    So i overlocked my x1400 in a E1505.

While in game, as it is overclocked, there are absolultely no artifacts, and everything runs perfectly.

However, once i decide to close the game and go back to windows, artifacts start appearing! Why?

Using Omega 6.9 and OCing with ATI Tray Tools.

Do you have ATI powerplay on? That always gave me problems when I overclocked my x300.

How do you turn off ATI PowerPlay with ATI Tray Tools with Cats 6.8?

Artifacts are sometimes present because of PP. Powerplay turns on/off particular parts of the GPU depending on the type of usage (2d or 3D for example). Overclocked GPU/MEM may work fine while in 3d, but can produce artifacts in 2d for example.

You can turn off Powerplay in Catalyst Control Center if you installed it. If you have installed driver only - you can try Notebook Hardware control - it can turn off Powerplay.

If you hate CCC - try installing driver with classic dialog (google for it) - there you can also turn off PP.

    Cheers,

    Ivan

I also get artifacts with ati tray tools, but NOT with powerstrip, strange huh?
However, if I open powerstrip first, OC kicks in, then open ati tray tools , I can overclock with ATT with no problems at all.

    (Omega 6.9)
