I recently tried a bit of overclocking on the GPU of my G1s mostly to see how BF 2142 and the crysis demo would run. I first started with a 575/764 which still seemed conservative to what many people have achived. While playing BF I was getting pretty high temps, occasionally above 100*C and the game became unstable and I got a blue screen.

Today I tried a conservative 550/728 with crysis and although it ran fine, my temps were about 97*C constant, but not exceeding 98*C.
First of all are the temps I had with crysis safe to run with, or should they be lower?

Also, why would a 575/764 cause a crash and such high temps, even though the two sytem stability tests I ran went flawlessly?

Lastly I heard getting certain drivers can help... how can I check the ones I have and where should I look for new/better ones? (sorry I realize this has probably been brought up plenty before).
    Thanks.

Those temps seem quite high, but within spec. I think under 100C is ok or normal - which you're borderline - and 130C is where the sucker throttles itself back. Maybe thats only for desktop components though.

First of all, try undervolting your CPU. This should drop temps significantly if the CPU and GPU are on the same heatsink/heatpipe system. Also when running games, try a decent laptop cooler. You can get

Even though your system stability tests run fine, it isn't 100% guaranteed to detect your weak points. If your system still locks up, then time to drop down the speeds a bit, and retest. I've run 3DMark06 for hours and rthdrbl for hours both without any issues. Then I jump in a game and it locks up several minutes in. Just dropped down the clocks 5MHz and then everything ran fine.

OK.. I tried to install the new drivers and I get an error saying the program "could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."
    Anyone have this problem??
This driver didnt install with the crysis demo did it?
