I tried to overclock it from my BIOS but I cant even get into the option there, anyone else know how to overclock this card? btw if it helps, my laptop is in my sig, dont know if its possibly an HP thing that I cant even access the card via the BIOS.

I don't know if the 3200 is overclockable but you can try it with a program called Powerstrip.
-
The HD3200 isnt actually a card; its an IGP which can not be overclocked ( though rumor has it that there could be a way ).
-
ATI HD3200 is an integrated graphic card, how can it have 512MB of dedicated memory when the ATI 3470 has only 256MB of dedicated memory.
-
ever seen 1GB x3100?
-
i read a Tom's Hardware article where they overclocked the HD3200 core from 500 to 950, from BIOS, so theoretically with the correct bios you could, maybe hacked BIOS will come out later?
-
yeah, you'd have to modify the bios. There was a guide on doing that, just search for it. Although software OCing might be "safer".
-
Btw, for overclocking, only desktop version of HD 3200 IGP can be overclocked through BIOS. Laptop is disabled by manufacturer because higher clock speed = higher power consumption, more heat, less battery life and more stablity problem. -

Well technically almost every laptop GPU is integrated. Does RivaTuner not work? I used it for my last lappy which had a dedicated/shared VRAM solution (GeForce Go 7200). Worked pretty well, made a nice bit of difference in the performance arena in alot of games.
-
My 3200 has 64MB side port memory. So basically it has 64MB of dedicated memory. There is no way for a 3200 to have or even use close to 512MB. I could see 128MB at best, and yes if there was a way to upgrade mine from 64-128 I would.

I'd still think it should be possible. On a side note how is the BF2 and BF2142 performance with the HD3200? I'd expect it to be pretty good (especially with BF2), but I'd like to hear from people who know themselves. I'm also interested in the CoD2 (yes the second one) performance in DX9 mode.

HD3200 can be overclocked. Using AMD GPU Overclock tool, you just change left value to target clock ie. 600mhz. It will then display other number ie. 66.25. Ignore this, the actual clock is already changed. To verify, run GPU-Z, it will detect and display your new clock value.
3dmark will not detect hd3200 clock, but its benchmark will show you the increase in performance. Goodluck -
so where you able to overclock the radeon 3200 on your laptop.. i get my laptop in 2 and a half weeks so im excited to get it and wanna overclock it!
-
AMD Overdrive has allowed some users to overclock their HD 3200 cores, and even more often their memory.
The HD 3200 has a lot more potential than it is clocked with, its just that most manufacturers figure that for most people its not worth the battery usage (which will go up) when the clocks are higher. Its cheaper for them to design a card with flexibility and clock it according to needs than to design different cards.

Have fun with your new laptop, it's actually a decent igp, plays more than I initially expected and have been very happy overall. Granted, newer stuff will be on low, but not bad for the money!
-
Also, ignore my sig. Laptop in question is the HP Pavilion dm3-1030 with an ATI Radeon 3200HD. -
i have the exact same issue
(with a hp pavilion dv3-1039wm)
ati radeon hd 3200

HALP! lol =] -
The HD3200 is indeed an outstanding IGP. Built a system for a friend who was on a budget when it came to a video card so I got him a 785G based mobo and Phenom II 945 and with the CPU at stock and the IGP OC'd to 700mhz it plays CoD4 on High detail @ 1440x900 with 2x AA nicely. On another machine with a 790GX mobo and the IGP clocked to 900mhz with a 2.9ghz Regor CPU the machine played Crysis pretty damned well on low detail @ 1024x768.
The CPU you have is going to be a sizeable determining factor with the HD3200 from what I've seen, mainly because many newer games are directly affected by the CPU just as much as the GPU.
