Okey I asked in another thread about my core speed for my graphic card. It showed out to be a problem with the Omegadriver traytool.
I then looked into the corespeed of the mobility x600 and it seems that it is set at 398 Mhz and x600SE is set at 358 Mhz
Then I used ATI tray tool to test my graphic cards ability to be OC'ed. I stoped at 410 Mhz with no artifacts at all.
Now I'm wondering here, what is the difference between the two cards? Is x600SE just a underclocked version?
Normally CPUs are clocked to the point were they are able to run stable, and so it should be with GPUs. So what is the case here? Will it damage my laptop or my graphic card if I run it at 398 Mhz? (If the GPU for some odd reason is underclocked it shouldn't damage anything or?)
I don't wanna do anthing that damage my laptop, but it's really weird that I can OC my GPU that much, If it was a crippled x600 I wouldn't be able to OC it above the stock speed of a normal x600.
What will you recommend here?

I have a 128mb mobility x600 in my HP8215 and, using the ATI tools, I run 398/277 as my OC setup. So far it is very stable and 2245 for the benchmark testing score.
Not much was gained oc'ing the gpu, most gain was the memory. I think it is riskier to oc the gpu than the memeory. -
My memory stockspeed is at 277 btw -
I just tested the new corespeed with Quake3. A +40 Mhz increase in GPU corespeed gave me....hold on...
2.5 frames more!!!
I suppose it's because it's an OpenGL game, will it be much higher with a D3D game? -
Hi guys,
Check my signature for interesting links. You might find it relevant for your task. It was done on x700, but anyway, you might get some ideas...
This might also help... http://www.thegamebooks.com/ati-cards-f4.html

My advice is to .. . hm . . listen to Ivan ^.
Check out those links in his signature.
Remember to be careful with the overclocking, you are taking risks. Overclocking correctly can minimize the risk although it is still there.

I got my x600 (400/250) up to 600/315 but I would not recommend going that far. SE cards usually also have half the memory bus width.
It would REALLY help if you downloaded ATItool then when you have it running at the bottom right is a settings button, click it then scroll down the list and see if it lists the memory as 128bit or 64bit.
If its 64bit I'll add the card to the list. Also give the mem clocks.
EDIT: 2k1 bench: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8561690 -
Installed memory 128 Mb
Memory Type DDR SDRAM
Memory Width 128 bit
Active Rendering Pipelines 4
The stockspeed on my X600SE is 277 for memory. The only difference I can see is that the corespeed is lower
I will check out the links, but it seems that I can gain very little atm by OCing core
And I really have difficulties seeing the difference -

I have the X600SE card also, and I overclocked my card to 425:245 and got a 1955 on 3DMark05.
-
Interface PCI-E
Catalyst version Omega 6.02
Memory Size 128 MB
Memory Type DDR
Memory Bus Width 128 Bit
Pipelines 4
Default GPU Clock 358.00 Mhz
Default Mem Clock 280.00 Mhz
So it's 128 Bit for sure and it seems that my x600SE is somehow very good -
