My x200m was at I think 570MHz. So I thought about overclocking it with Powerstrip. I Overlclocked it to 621MHz but the max is 754MHz. What should I overclock it to w/o damaging or overheating my computer?

You need to be monitoring temperature levels of your GPU during you OC to make sure your temps aren't getting to high. Base your OC on temps and stability. If you games are crashing on a high OC, you need to back off.

Would buying a cooling pad help out with it from overheating or crashing? I have not come to any overheats or crashes but I don't want to ruin my computer because I don't have a Job to pay off any repairs. The overclocking seems to help get my game FPS a little higher but I would choose a good running computer that does not break than a good running game anyday.

i believe default core clock for the 200m is 300Mhz/400Mhz. there is no way that ur core clock is 570mhz. now im not trying to call u a liar or anything. im just saying u might wanna double check ur specs before putting them out. and the xpress 200m is an integrated GPU, it uses system memory so its not really a good idea to overclock.

You must mean you're overclocking the ram to those specs, no way you've overclocked the core to 570 MHz!!

My x200m came at 370 odd MHz and I've clocked it up to 460. I'd guess maybe yours is reading double what the value should be. What program are you using?

Ok Im using Powerstrip, and I swear to God that it says 570Mhz. I didnt know that it was more than other x200m's but mabe they gave it a Up since I bought my laptop recently. If you guys want to see Ill just take some screenshots for you.

That is... crazy. Man, my 6600 can't take any more than about 365 Mhz, stock it is 300, and I use it at 350 (memory at 700 Mhz, stock 600). Either that program is not accurately noting your speed, or you ended up with the Mr. Universe of Chips, built to mutant 200m specs!!!

    Congrats!

Wow, that's quite an overclock. I'd suggest running 3DMark05 for a good stability test. Considering the X200M is an integrated GPU, it shouldn't be putting off that much heat even when it is overclocked.

Yea, I was comparing my x200m with others and I was a little confused at 1st by how much higher I could overclock it.

That is not possible, there must be some kind of error...unfortunately! Even if it was, it's a guaranteed recipe for trouble. You could destroy your entire motherboard.

I'd just like to see what an X200M at over 200% of stock speeds is capable of. :D

I'd suggest 3DMark03 though, as even at double-speed, 05 is likely to be a slideshow.

I absolutely agree with you here. The reason being with my x1100 (which is just a x200m refresh) when I use powerstrip it tells me the same thing default is 576mhz and I can carry that to 746mhz which is impossible for this IGP!!

When I use ATI WinClk which is ATI's internal overclocking utility I get the correct default speed of 300mhz which the x1100 and x200m should be running at and not 570mhz. If I try to send the clock to 600mhz using ATI WinClk the comp will instantly FREEZE and I then have to do a hard restart. Therefore that max that powerstrip shows of 746mhz will never be reached on this kind of card even the default speed it shows is an error 570mhz would mean that the card would be extremely unstable at stock levels

All this leads me to suspect that powerstrip is not detecting core clock speed correctly on the integrated ATI GPUs. My advice to you Filipinocrzy, stop using powerstrip and find something else because it is misleading you...

Mine came at 370MHz and goes up to 520 or so, I think maybe powerstrip is reading the clock of your GPU incorrectly?

Yea might be the problem, Ill try to see if I can use anything else than powerstrip. But if it still comes out with the same Mhz I guess Ill let ya kno.
