    Hey guys.

I would really like to know how to overclock my nVidia 8400m GS, but since I'm new to all of this I don't know how. So it would be nice if someone could decribe how to overclock, in a way so everyone could understand it. You can add me on msn; [email protected] or decribe it in the thread if that pleases you most.

    Thanks :)

    ;Sorry for my english

Oh, thanks. I will check it out :)

EDIT: Okay, I have installed RivaTuner, which it tells me that in my case I have 128MB DDR2. I have also installed the 169.04 driver for nVidia, as it is the only driver which enables me to overclock. But what I haven't found out is what the setting 600/525 indicates; is it the core clock, shader clock or the memory clock i have to move around?

600 is Core clock, 525 is Memory clock. Don't unlock the shader clock, let it overclock with the core automatically.

    so what's better?

    8400m GS 128mb DDR2
    or
    8400m GS 64mb DDR3

just curious, since I have 64mb DD43, but the poster has 128mb DDR2

hey, i was reading this thread and try to over clock my card as well. its a 8400m GS 128mb DDR3. tried to use rivatuner to change clock sppeds, but the setting wont stay. if the core speed is changed, the difference should show on gpu-z right? how do you make the new core speed stay?

The driver version must be a version that lets you overclock.
like 169.04 but some drivers perform better even when you are not able to overclock.

I don't overclock but I have better frame rates now when i installed 173.80 than when I installed 169.04

I just installed 169.04 (previously had 169.12), you're saying I can get better graphics on COD4 if I install 173.80 then with 169.04 overclocked?

Well for me Yes, 173.xx drivers work the best for my laptop.

I don't know if it works well with yours but you could try it.

Currently I'am using 169.04, while it is apperently the only driver which work with overclocking ;)

EDIT: Here is the link for the driver using Vista 32bit,

-Remember to download the Modded INF too.

Which settings would you recommend for a nVidia 8400m GS, 128MB DDR2?
