Hopefully, I will have my 8510w within a week, so the question that comes up to my mind is:

How can I safely overclock the GPU - nVidia Quadro FX 570m on 8510w.
I couldn’t find a thread which focuses on 8510w model.

I’ve heard that FX 570m with stock drivers is not that great for gaming, so what drivers should I go for than? Also, what software and driver version should I use to overclock the card?
Some BIOS and driver versions will not support overclocking and might not be stable, any feedback on this?

Controlling the temperatures is crucial when overclocking a laptop. Again, what is the most reliable software for this purpose? What temps should I stick to?

I will be using both XP and Vista 32bit on 8510w, with XP being specially for gaming. I want to be able to underclock the GPU when there is no 3d application running in XP, any suggestions here? How can I run DX10 games in XP?
Should I also underclock the GPU in Vista, so that the fan is quieter, or just leave it on the stock driver?

In other words help me to overclock my card. Once again, I want to stress that I’m not pursuing extreme overclock and want to improve the performance within reasonable boundaries.

i have a quadro fx 570m on my thinkpad t61p, and ive found the best drivers for gaming and overclocking is the one for the 8600m gt. check out laptopvideo2go, and download the 169.28 drivers and make sure you also download the modded inf and replace it with the original one in the self extracting archive, before you run setup.exe. windows will ask you about about somthing just click continue installation. when you are done, restart and you will have yourself a brand new 8600m gt(driver side). you can use almost anything to overclock it from there, but my favs are rivatuner and atitool. Currently, i run games with it clocked at 675mhz(before was 475) and 900mhz for the memory ( before was just over 700). Be careful when you overclock on your laptop, and just go a little bit at a time. I would also try running some games in windowed mode, and watch a gpu temp monitor to make sure it doesnt get to hot. All of the new gpus will automatically shut off if they get to hot. you will probly get a blue screen and have to restart

Thanks for the info, I will follow your instructions. What temperatures are you getting for the overclocked GPU when the system is under load. Also what are the temps for CPU and HDD?

Will do so in a few days. Thanks.

Is the best driver to install still the 169.28 version? Or is there a more recent better driver?
