Ok, I absolutely know nothing about overclocking. So...this MSI laptop: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001N44U9E/interactiveda8789-20

it says it has a "MSI's exclusive Turbo Drive Engine Technology allows you to overclock the GT725 (while in AC power mode) with just a touch of the turbo button located above the keyboard."

what does this actually do? and will it increase FPS in games and other programs faster than normal?

Several laptops have similiar feature. Such as on mine with turbo gear. Basically using the turbo feature will bump up your CPU speed by upclocking the fsb and voltage at a software level. For example on mine stock 2.4 ghz I can bump it up to 2.76 at click of button when in windows using the turbo gear feature.

I think that is what the turbo drive engine does to your laptop. Yes it will increase fps in CPU heavy games such as GTA 4 and supreme commander.

Sound's interesting. What temps do you reach and how long will the cpu remain overclocked?

The program is designed for the C90. Lets you overclock 10% or 15-20% or downclock 10%. Stays overclocked until you either change it or restart. The fans also kick in more aggressively while overclocked coming on at lower temps and faster.

Laptop fans should be more than sufficient with the levels of overclocking they do (since this is a factory option and will be covered by warranty).

It's pretty nice, if the game is maxing your system out, it can really help. Especially nice for systems that have a CPU bottleneck, or are CPU dependent.
