Hi,
I've recently stumbled on a very annoying problem since I've started to watch blu ray on my laptop. Basically any graphics drivers I install with a modded INF, blu ray does not run (Cyberlink PowerDVD). This is because using the modded INF breaks WHQL?
Using drivers that don't require a modded INF for my laptop. i.e. drivers released from Sony, do not allow me to overclock!.
Is there any solution to let me watch blu ray AND overclock or will I be stuck in this annoying circle forever?
Regards, Jam.

i dont belive so. the makers of blu ray wanted everything to be controlled so those will need to be whql signed.
its the same reason why they came out with hdmi. thay wanted to control all aspects of the interface even though component could do 1080p if allowed. -
Have you tried installing the mobile drivers provided by nvidia?

No, not the ones Sony provides, he means these http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html

Uhm, Storm?

Not really either-or.
http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/
Browse the filesystem of your Blu-Ray and locate the largest file, that should be the movie. Drag and drop into that media player and it will play Blu-Rays, and it supports DXVA as well for qualified video cards. -

You need a codec pack to decode H.264
Try Core AVC.

umm, ever thought of using the sony inf on the laptop video 2 go drivers?
-
EDIT: What do you actually mean by "using the sony inf". I presume you just mean drivers on the forum labelled with "Sony"? I.E. 167.60?
On second thoughts, think I'll address this issue in the Sony forums since I can't find a driver newer than 167.60 specifically for Sony models. -
What? Apple *technically* supports these drivers for Windows, but Vaio does not? Nor Dell? CRAZYNESS! -

About my initial problem, I've found my answer. My FZ, or any other laptop containing the 8600GS, seems to be BIOS-Locked meaning I can't OC with drivers newer than 169.04. I've tried a few drivers since and found that I can both play Blu Ray and OC with my stock drivers. Obviously these drivers are pretty old (101.28) and therefore don't perform as well as newer drivers at stock clocks. Currently I'm trying to make 167.43 drivers (sony INF) work since these apparently allow overclocking but the default INF doesn't install.

I believe the .mts files are the ones that play if you drag and drop to MPC-HC, users over at another site I'm on got it to play that way.
Overclocking, Bluray and INF's
