    Hello guys,

I just received the Inspiron 1520 5 days ago and I installed some apps and some games. I tried to repartition the hard drive to add another 1 or 2 partitions as it big (160GB) ,but I couldn't . I used the disk managament utility in the Windows Vista but after I shrinkd the hard drive and adjusted the new size I receive an erorr message and it says something like can't make a new sample partition. The problem is that when I play Gohst Recon ADVANCED WARFIGHTER 2,the system is lock up and I have to press the power button to resatart the system. That's happened to me more than 4 times.

Any advice guys why that happening ?

Also from where can I download the riva tuner?

    Thanks

Hi, i would not repartition your hard drive as i did that once and corrupted my HD and lost all data. i would suggest the second you get any dell computer is to reformate and install the OS again as to add/remove partions and to make double sure you get rid of all dell crap that slows your computer down. :D

Edit: as for riva tuner.... google is your friend

since you have an inspiron you can download load I8kfanGUI.

    http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html

And download it for windows X64. It works in vista and XP, and you can set your max temperature on your computer. Like mine is set to 40 degrees C

hmmm....I have no idea what to say about your problems. My 1520 doesn't heat up. The hottest part is on the left side where some vents are. I noticed that even when the laptop is on all day, when I place it on my lap, it's not that hot. My old Vaio got so hot that I had to put it on a desk whenever I used it.

About the locking up.....that could be a driver problem. Before I updated my drivers, F.E.A.R. and Command and Conquer 3 both "locked up" and right after crashed to my desktop. In the system tray, there was a message that said some file/driver stopped responding.

Yes the left side of the laptop is very hot. I put my hand every time I play a game and I found that a very hot air comes out from the left side :( (I think it's the fan). Note that I don't use the battary when i play games,I use the AC charger because I don't wana damage my battery. Also that the lock up issue is still happening till now. I will try to update my driver today, but when I tried to updated yesterday I receive an erorr message and it says like:if u install that driver, maybe ur graphix card will be damaged.!!!

my 1520 is very hot after enough gaming on the left side, yet i never had a different laptop to compare it too.
