won't believe that OC until someone from the forum does the same...
-
What's the default 'extra' or 'custom' voltage on the 680M? (ie, how much of an increase is 1.012V?)
-
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD.
That is insane. Shows how good overclocker the 680M really is with the right voltage
For those who wonder, the stock voltage of 680M goes all the way to max 0.9870V. So the overclockers above have overvolted it 0.025V more.
Still a long way up to GTX 670 though since that is running at 1.175V
So yeah, Nvidia can still push out faster GPUs than the 680M while still running relatively cool. From the screenshot above the overclocked
680M reached 80C max.
685M later maybe? -
IN ALL OF THE HOLY THINGS IN THE WORLD
Is reached desktop 670 level..... score wise -
i'm pretty sure that the GTX685M/GTX780M will be the full spec of the 1536sp GK104 core
-
it's impressive, i ask me what is the power consumption of the card ?
-
125W power consumption for the 680M @ 1037 / 1200 @ 1.012v
MXM3.0b MAX power consumption is 137W according to the MXM-upgrade.com -
Why is everyone shocked about this?! XD
It's a desktop GTX 670 that's had it's voltage and GPU clocks lowered down. THAT'S IT. Overclocking it back up to the default clocks will allow it to severely surpass the 7970M. -
Does it mean that a 180W psu could contain such power requirement (GPU 125W + CPU 45w)?
@imglidinhere: Everyone is shocked because we talk about laptop with a lot of temperature and consumption constraint that doesn't exist in desktop world composed with Tower equipped 2 x 200mm Fans, 1 x 120mm Fan and 800 W PSU. -
Op, please use spoiler if you post large images
Btw, 1.012v vBIOS for Dell 680M is available or not?
-
Further proof that GK104 is mid-range :X. GK110 is going to create another universe with its power.
-
P170EM GTX680M (220W PSU)
M17X R4 GTX680M (240W PSU)
if you want OC a 680M
of course you should get a 220W PSU for safety -
Compared to the 675m 100w tdp card the 680m 100w tdp card takes around 65w less so imagine ocing to use that 65w and it should stay similar range psu load to a 675m and you can oc the card by around 50% for free.
Heck I might get a 680m as it only takes around 149w to game. -
-
I`m shocked because not only is it an insane performance increase, its also very cool considering the clocks. Probably around (if not lower) than the 580M
Why don`t you believe it graz? All the pictures of clocks and such look legit -
if it can OC like that, nvidia and resellers are crazy to price it so low, it should be priced twice the amount as of now, seriously, thanks for the good find, but I won't believe until I see it with my own eyes
-
I cannot understand what you mean.. if you want real proof go out and try it yourself haha -
-
Nevermind...
-
Now all they have to do is drop the price by $200 and it'll be a clear winner.
-
-
As much as I'd like to try, I'm afraid of bricking. This time around I think I'll let someone else be the guinea pig and learn from their mishaps and update mine in a year when it's all been smoothed out.
-
I doubt this score is stable for gaming...
One thing is super overvolted\overclocked card on 3d 11 another is maintaining that for gaming.(this is also valid for the 7970m by the way) -
whatever it is, if 680m can pull off 44% OC even for a single time for its life (one full run of 3dmark11), then it is an accomplishment no matter what.
(any OC is not good for gaming imho) -
I don`t know chinese, I just found the rar uploaded by the overclocker that did these 3DMark runs -
Here is some more information (translated).
He says without FN+1 (without turbo fan I guess?) it will reach maximum 89C in games, and with turbo fan that temperature will greatly go down. He used the P170HM to test btw.

any OC that don't put temp on card is < +2-3fps, does it really worth it?

Maybe if i sell my hd 6970m,and with the money of 7970m i go for it....
-
That is absolutely crazy. The CPU looks overclocked though, it is running at 4.2GHz in that bench run for 3dMark11. Regardless, 8500 GPU score? Beast! Madness!
If only all of the mobile GPU naysayers could see this.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2960XM Processor,CLEVO P170HMx score: P8285 3DMarks -
damn i LOVE how our HM machines still kick butt! take this optimus/enduro/backlit/IB crap EM series! mwahahahaha
ok so back to reality now: would those high 3dmark scores actually also translate into REAL gaming fps? cuz as far as ive seen the 7970M and the 680M are completely on par when it comes to gaming, just that the 680M scores higher in futuremark benches.
NO fanboy flaming / ranting / pulling out hypotheses out of ur a$$ please, i want either hard facts or silence (so behave cloudfire)
if that 40%+ OC would result in a 40%+ higher fps rate then damn.... pure awesomeness -
Just received my m18x with 680M SLI. Which BIOS can I install to allow overclocking as the default BIOS does not allow core OC.
-
^Speaking of Bios, how high is the risk for bricking your m18x? (im still a total beginner to gaming laptops..but its not like im going to try it without asking and confirming here first.)
-EDIT-I know this topic isnt about the AW, you wont hear anything else from me on this thread about it, i promise. -
Sadly not sure, it is a hit/miss. Higher chance to brick the card not the m18x.
-
^ that scares me, last thing i want is for my gpu to keel over on me when im outside of the US...
-
Looks like big red has to step it up now. wasn't so sure before, but thats just ground breaking. I don't think a 7970m can touch that territory, not without serious and risky modding.
Would anybody happen to know if those benches are with PhysX enabled? -
Wrong thread, heh, please delete this!
-
like graz'zt said, I'll wait for a forum member here to reproduce those results. This just seems too unbelievable.

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
In the side news, we successfully installed a clevo 680m in the new 17" barebone from MSI.
Actually pau1ow did all the hard part, I just modded drivers on the fly for him.
You can check MSI sub forum for further info.
So far seems everything ok, card turbo boosts as well seems
We tested internal 302.74 and newer betas as well.
Now onto the 16f2! -
Kingpin how were you guys able to enable the boost?
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
It was by default once I've modded the last beta driver.
The clocks keeps ramping up under stress conditions to go back slowly to stock when theres less load, or no load at all.
iirc It ramps up to 800+ clocks while benching in 3dmark11.
The card is still undergoing heavy tests so for now we can't assure everything is working as it should. -
FU** LOGIC how the hell is that even possible AND STABLE TOO?! -
@svl7,
Do you think the vbios problem low performanced per MHz is gone on his (He's Luoxia)? His score seems to reach the expected zone. In the original post he flashed a Clevo GTX680M into MSI GTX680M.
-
I am curious, i ask me how long the card could last before hardware failure with this OC/OV?
