I got the P8400. Is the 2.54 GHZ better for gaming? How much better? I really want to be able to run crysis, cod WAW at a decent fps but still be at high settings. All the videos I have seen on youtube of people playing it seems people with 2.54 or GDDR3 instead of my DDR2 run games better. My laptop comes tuesday and I know this second part belongs in the "can i run it" thread but could you guys give me a fps and low-medium-high settings of a few games.
Crysis
Crysis Warhead
Left 4 Dead
COD5
NBA 2k9
Deadspace
Fallout 3
FarCry2
Bioshock
Thanks! and rep will be given. I really would like to know setting to fps ratio. Like say I can run WAW at High...how many fps would I get. THANKS!

Most of those games are GPU limited, so the CPU having 0.266GHz more won't do much. I doubt you'd get more than 1-2 FPS if any. I wouldn't bother upgrading

+repped...is there anyway you can give me specifics on the games in terms of frames and settings(low med high)

Crysis 1280 x 800 medium/high settings 22-28 fps DX9
Crysis 1680 x 1050 low/medium settings 22-28 fps DX9
Left 4 Dead 1680 x 1050 all high settings (no AA) 30-50 fps
Call of Duty 4 (probably close to COD5 performance-wise) 1680 x 1050 medium settings never goes below 30 fps for me, but jumps around a lot.
Crysis Warhead is about the same as Crysis except I have heard maybe a 3-5 fps increase.
Bioshock should run medium/high at a good resolution and fps since its about a year old, but I haven't played it yet.
Far Cry 2 medium/high settings should run ok but probably a slightly lower res, but I haven't tried it myself yet. (Christmas present)
Deadspace, and Fallout 3 should be around medium at about 30 fps (just guessing though). I bet you could max out 2k9 with a high fps no problem since it doesn't look really graphics intensive.
I have the same config as you but I have the p8600, so I doubt there will a huge difference benchmarking wise, maybe a few frames here or there. -
Firstly, the T9400 is 2.53GHz, which is what I believe you meant. Second, GDDR3 and DDR3 or DDR2 for that matter are different things. GDDR3 is RAM found inside a graphics processor while DDR3/DRR2 RAM is found on the system's motherboard itself. They are not the same components at all. Speaking of system memory, DDR3 over DDR2 will help you negligibly, in a way you wont notice. I don't believe your system even accepts DDR3 actually. Now having -G-DDR3 RAM in your GPU rather than GDDR2 RAM in your GPU has shown through testing quite a significant amount of performance improvement. Crysis Warhead is very CPU intensive, even on my T9400 it has trouble running it. I have the NVIDIA Quadro counterpart of the geForce 9600M GT. WH runs about 25-40FPS for me on full resolution and medium/high settings so you should be able to run the same on a lower resolution. L4D should give you 30-50FPS on max settings (AA off to 2XAA), as I run roughly 40-60FPS on my native WXGA+ resolution w/ 4x AA/AF. COD5 will run at 30-40FPS if you use a lower resolution and medium settings. Bioshock will run at 30-40FPS as well on a lower resolution like 1280 on high settings (770M w/ T9400 here runs 30-40 on 1440 w/ AA on). Sorry, I have only played these games and heavily tested on these 3 games and can't provide info on much else. All in all, you should be happy with what you have. If you really want a T9400, where will you be planning to buy one?

Dead Space and Bioshock should run maxed out at 1280x800
