I have some PC DVD games that I have bought. However, instead of carrying the disks, I would like to burn them onto the harddrive. Can the program used to create movie DVD ISOs do the same for games?

Solution #1: For God's Sake, get some No-DVD/CD Exe for your games. You don't have to worry about carrying CD/DVDs anywhere, no scratches, no nothing.

Solution #2: To burn your game DVDs to ISO format, just download program "Alcohol 120", it will allow you to make disk image format.

go to Megagames and look under the PC Game Fixes, use the NO-CD/DVD fixes.
    ( GameCopyWorld, same stuff)

Disclaimer: you should own the original copy of the game to be able to use these "game fixes"

this is the easiest way to play games without having to put in the CD/DVD whenever you want to play... and better than wasting space by using an image and a virtual drive.

I try to avoid using any of my discs now, I have lost my original discs from over usage.. they cracked because of so much use in my optical drive.

definitely. there are "proper" solutions that can archive games for about $20.

there are also things called mini cd images, that basically contain only the cd check information and run about 20 megs, which you can mount and run. obviously you still need to purchase the game and use a real cd key. some games might not like these depending on which program you use to mount the cd image. often, there are ways to circumvent that fact.

some games are more user friendly than others in this respect. source based games do not require a cd, for example, but require steam (this is a pretty good compromise)

other games, such as ut2004, merely require being installed with a valid key. the cd's are entirely unneccesary.

there are also things called no-cd cracks, which attempt to remove the cd check from the executable file. those are definitely in "questionable" territory and could present patching problems or corruption of game files or a security risk.

    the short answer is "yes."

I have taken you far. google.com will take you the rest of the way. good luck!

Edit: I really advocate the use of mini cd images. its a cleaner system despite taking up "some" storage space. The mini cd images are usually 20 megs or so, but its better.

The problem with no-cd cracks is that games will often do checksums when you're playing on a LAN (ie, C&C: Generals) or online, so will not work with no-CD cracks, yet they will work with drive emulators like Alcohol 52% (which also generates great images, even from a DVD) or Daemon Tools.

I bought Tiger Woods for $20. I liked 2006 so much that I actually took up the sport.

I love reading about golf, playing it and watching it on television (esp. HD Golf Channel).

I have DVD Fabdecrypter Platinum edition. (what? no titanium edition?).
