I'm downloading the demo now. From the screenshots you would never have guessed it was a RTS, hehe. Keep the games coming.

Man I am sure that people will suggest Warcraft 3 for RTS. People still love and play that game like god.

Personally I would say Rome total War 2. The game is absolutely insane if you got a rig that can handle it. The engine supports up to 10,000 soldiers at one battle. Its awesome crecreating the crusades between the templars and the muslims with 10,000 units.

but it requires serious horse power. Your computer might not be up for the task. check youtube for videos. great game.

another one would be world in conflict. its not furturistic. it takes place in an alternative version of the cold war in the 80s. the soviet invades the US, and all hell breaks loose. honestly its one of the best RTS I have ever played.

You must buy a lot of games.

Try World in Conflict, theres a limited time full version multiplayer demo on Fileplanet. Or just go buy it on Amazon for only $25!

ok, so besides titles others already mentioned, i'd say go for:

    1. RPG
      • oblivion (but check the mods connected w/ DB),
      • neverwinter nights 2 w/ add-on for sure,
      • the witcher is again a must!
      • you might try jade empire if you like "far east" climates...
      • and if you liked diablo and love mythology - go for titan quest...
      • bard's tale is also quite interesting and funny (real antihero :p )
      • Knights of the Old Republic (1 and 2) offer something every StarWars' fan should not miss!
      • of the oldy ones i'd say you can't lose with the story of "baldur's gate" chronicles...
    2. Strategy
      • rome total war,
      • medieval 2 total war,
      • warcraft 3 + exp,
      • supreme commander,
      • starcraft (and wait for the new one),
      • civ 4,
      • wait for "spore",
      • try sim city 4k...
    3. Shooter
      • swat 4,
      • thief 3,
      • dark messiah of might and magic,
      • graw2,
      • fsw,
      • tc's splinter cell: pandora tomorrow and even better chaos theory and double agent...

of these some at least should be of some interest to you...

Is DiRT good? Can the 8600M GT [DDR2] handle it?

Aside from NFS: Most Wanted, any other good racing games?

Also, would The Witcher run well on my laptop? It has pretty high Recommended Requirements and I'm afraid my laptop won't run it smoothly. At what settings do you think can I run it well?

Maybe it's just a driver issue? What driver are you using?

Or does it just performs really badly until it crashes?

    Havent read Assassins Creed yet.
Runs pretty well, although some areas with huge viewing distance tend to push FPS below 10.
Running with everything on highest except multisampling. Resolution 1280x800

they say assassins creed is really repetitive

    i found KOTOR, EXCEEDINGLY easy.

i wished they at least made the boss battle hard enough that you just might die

well to be honest - if you played hitman series and splinter cell series and thief series - AC seems almost too obvious to play... so i do agree that it gets repetitive, but it's like this that you can use stealth and then some more stealth and even more :D most games are themed from start to the end.

both kotors were easy, but you need to agree that they offer quite a cinematic experience of the SW flavour...

you know you could die a few times in the game? can't recall how he was called, but there was in kotor1 a part on Taris with a bounty-hounter (the short one with two pistols) that you couldn't fight with until you reached certain level... or you were killed whatever you did. :D so maybe boss fights weren't that difficult, but there were a few fights in both kotors you could get yourself killed fast.

I found the final duel in the cantina impossible and had to leave without completing it. Also, when fighting a saberless sith I must've died like 8 times before i killed him by the skin of my teeth. There are some tough bits in the game! I'd name more but i've just bought the game and am on Dantooine and just been given the matele dispute quest.

I second sins of a solar empire. Also supreme commander is fun if you have a good enough computer. I reccomend oblivion also because of the billion mods it has. Medieval 2 total war is fun also.

But my favorite game is Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl. It is a shooter with some rpg elements lightly sprinkled on it. However it has good graphics, a good story, and great gameplay. However thats just the vanilla version. I reccomend heading to the official forums and checking out the amk mod which is almost fully translated.

karan, h4bm should work perfectly, that's rather obvious (it goes problemlessly on my jfl92...), however the game will definitely work flawlessly on 1280x800res and we do not know what is the native one of yours.

    to every1:
now, as i ended a series of articles to a newspaper concerning "freebies" and free games i can now add some other titles that might interest you (plus they're free)...
    > football challenge 08 (yeah i know it's long after the euro08 finals but still...) as a free alternative to hell better fifas and peses...
    > bmw m3 challenge (free full demo to gtr2 racing sim) if you like m3 or the famous nordscheife track...
    > trackmania united and nations - great easy not that demanding... and free :D
    > drift city - racing mmog with not that demanding reqs... a must for all of you who liked the nfsunderground-nfscarbon titles :D or juiced/juiced2 or srs or are a fan of the fast and furious movies (especially tokyo located last one in the franchise)! ah and it's as with all the other - free!
    > psi ops (midway's product) - quite easy and funny jedi/fps alternative :D free 'cause it's ad-supported (just like ubi released the pop:sands of time or far cry)
    > alien arena and open arena are two easy to set, free to play, mmog fps shooters that may find those of you who like unreal/quake/doom series a bit a tad addicted to them soon... at least try them :D it does not cost you a penny (besides electricity and net access that you pay for either way :D )
    > americas army... you all know it but better be safe and mention the title :D
    > rising eagle futuristic infantry warfare is a free mmog, something in between unreals and cod4 but closer to aa and cod4 as you play the title for quite a while... ah and it's free :D
    > wolf team... hmm what can i say, again free mmog fps/tpp shooter with elements of stealth :D and "magic". if you recall the underworld movie series, skinwalkers movie, played vampire the masquerade bloodlines or liked the idea of werewolfed swat team as of the one presented in the full eclipse it's the game for you :D really! and it's free!
    > the white chamber (quite easy but classic style adventure game... damn a friend of mine thought it was alone in the dark :D )
    > kleptocracy - free tpp-perspective thief climate-a-like but set in today's world... if you loved the scene from Entrapment (AKA Verlockende Falle) where catherina zeta-jones goes through the security system of the museum hte game will find quite a good accomodation on your hdd... ps. it's free :D
    > freeciv/freecol/lincity as free revisions of the classic old games everyone knows so i do not need to call them by name here :D
    > battleships forever... if you loved ww2 themed nautical games :D or if you liked to play pen'n'paper battleships :D or if you like the strategical attitude towards the game :D unfortunately it's nowhere near as tempting as silent hunter series... still it's free and it does work for some!
    > navy field - free mmog strategy of rts roots, basically more pen'n'paper battleships climatic themes here than in the game mentioned above...
    > saga (v1.41) - free fantasy mmog strategy... google it out cause it's worth the time and bandwidth... simply put - great free stuff.
    > dreamlords the reawakening v1.3 is of the almost same type as the one above (saga) but has a few interesting elements and differs in dozens of aspects from it. it's free, mmog and it really gets people glued to the screen :D

if you'd like some suggestions on the great free mmorpgs out there just ask (i'm finishing, or better said polishing, the article on them right now) :D

So I'm running out of disk space.... I don't want any 'heavy' games like bioshock, or crysis, etc.. that are 7+ GBs,

can anyone recommend fun games that are relatively older/'lighter' like hitman?
