About a week or two ago I was sitting on my lappy playing some good ol' tf2. I played as spy as usual, stared at the awesome skins I downloaded from fpsbanana, minimized the screen every so often to browse around forums, gather info on various topics, check email etc. I would play my music, then close out of tf2, chat with friends on Aim, open up a text document and type out about another paragraph of my research paper, go back on tf2, etc. To say the least, it was a blast. My friend calls me up and invites me over to hang out so I turn off my lappy and head on over. We talk and chill like usual then we decide to play some Uncharted 2. Alright, the game has been getting a lot of rave, so I was looking forward to having a good time. We go on to do some online multiplayer, but he tells me that only one person can play online at a time.. That kind of confused me. Why would only one person be able to play online when the PS3 supports up to four people? So he gets online and there are no servers. There's like this matchmaking setting where random people join your server and then you vote on what map you want to play on. I really did not like this... So we get ingame and we take turns each life. First thing I notice when I take hold of the control is how hard it is to aim. As a counter strike 1.6/source player for the past five years playing in numerous scrims and tourneys I can honestly say that I felt like a disabled idiot trying to manuever and aim with my player. The aiming is just so imprecise. I have to move the analog stick like half a millimeter just to move over the scope to the enemies head. Furthermore there were no mods, no skins, and I was unable to multitask. It was near impossible to understand what people where saying on their mics and the whole experience just felt boring. I couldn't open text documents, couldn't chat on Aim or Steam, and couldn't do all the things that I would usually do on PC. And yes consoles were made specifically for gaming and I was incapable of doing that because it just seemed way to difficult for me to aim.. He popped in modern warfare 2 and I tried aiming on that game, but the game practically aimed for you when you would zoom in onto your target. The gun would literally point at your enemy. I know the game has autoaim, but this just seems like an aimbot.

I'm not ranting here I just feel as though people are really missing out on the PC experience. The PC experience is just so much better and believe me I have a playstation 2, gamecube, and practically everything made by Nintendo, but when it comes to the online experience (which xbox 360 and PS3 are very famous for) I just don't see how they can even compete with the PC in terms of usability and freedom. Are any of you guys feeling this as well?

Oh, not another of these threads again. No good ever comes from these kinds of threads.

I was thinking about getting an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 just for Battlefield Bad Company 2 and the smooth frame rates with it's "maxed out graphics". This post has just eased my mind and now I feel content with my notebook PC purchase. :)

    Fixed.

Also, put it in a blog.

Third, consoles are meant for gaming, if you don't have enough experience using the controller it's not the controller's fault, it's yours.

@jacob- It wasn't my intention to do so, but I'm happy to hear that.

I didn't intend this thread to be flamebait, but just another way of listening to perspectives. What I provided was my perspective and it's how I feel.

FPSs are crap on consoles anyway. The controls are the least common denominator, what with auto-aim and everything.

Worst part is that it's creeping into PCs, where they're just porting all of that mediocrity from consoles to the PC.

Well I am a PC gamer, however I own both a PS3 and 360 too. For instance Red Dead Redemption never came to the PC or might never come the PC at all. Gears of War 3 will not come to the PC, nor will Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2 and 3. So I don´t see what´s the problem to just own both a 360 and a PC?

Exactly, as a matter of fact I own a PS3, 360, Wii and a PC for gaming. For what I spend on videocards I could easily buy a PS3 or 360. :)

I agree with you completely. I can get better graphics, higher framerates, and higher resolution on my computer. I can also control what I do better. The mouse is far more precise and doesn't require auto aimers, and I have far more buttons at my fingertips. I can also multitask while I game.

The thumb joystick sucks vs a mouse. There is no way you can deny that. At least everyone is hobbled that way and not just you though.
