    i was wondering if i got the wireless ps3 controller would i be able to use it with my laptop and would i be able to use the wireless feature, i believe that the ps3 uses bluetooth to connect the controller to the console and as i have bluetooth does that mean i will also be able to use the wireless feature? as i would prefer to have a wireless controller to use when playing certain games.

    thanx

    Do you own a PS3?

    If not I would just get a wireless 360 controller, it is supported officially by Microsoft for PC, as well as plenty of drivers and mods. I've used the 360 controller on PC and it feels and works just fine. I'd prefer a PS3 one, but who knows how the different versions of the controller, as well as wireless & rumble features will react with different operating systems and those risky unofficial drivers. I'd invest my money in what works 100%.

    Yeah that sucks... but it's better than some of those made for pc wireless logitech controllers that are overpriced, and feel quite dingy.

    No you don't have to use USB cable, it uses bluetooth.

    Works on Vista 32/64bit and XP 32/64bit. I have tested DMC 4 with it and works fine.

    I've been trying to get one to connect to Vista x64 for about a year now with no success. How do you do it?

    Sure.

    Here's a video from youtube of a guy playng GRID with Sixaxis wirelessly. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZl_ub0jkn8&NR=1

    1.) Download PS3 Sixaxis Win32 Driver! Link: http://www.ps3-hacks.com/file/12
    2.) Download JoytoKey! Link: http://www.zophar.net/Files/jtk361en.zip
    3.) Once all them files have been download and installed, and they work on your PC you can move on to step 4.
    4.) To set up JoytoKey click on the Create button. Call the Config Playstation 3 or PS3.
    5.) Go to Control Panel > Printers Or Other Hardware > Game Controllers
    6.) You should see PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller next go to Properties now you should see buttons 1 - 19.
    7.) Click a button on the controller and watch one of the number light up, that means that button is that button number.
    8.) Go back to JoytoKey and you will see button numbers and beside that disabled, double click the button that you made light up and config it to what you want that button to do.
    =======End Of Steps======

    If you would like to use the controller for a mouse then do this.
    =========Steps========
    1.) Find the Left, Right, Up, Down on JoytoKey
    2.) Double click left and go to the mouse tab.
    3.) Move the cursor movements to the left intill the number gets to -72.
    4.) Do that will all them.. heres the Config list.
    Left = -72
    Right = 72
    For up and down you will be using the up and down scroll bar not the side 2 side one used in left & right.
    Up = 72
    Down = -72
    =======End Of Steps======

    People have reported that 64bit works fine so let me know if it doesn't for some reason.

    on that YouTube video the guy was tilting his controller to the side playing grid, like it was a steering wheel. Is that how it's supposed to work or can you use the joystick aswell?

    You mean MotionSensor? I never tried it personally, but I'm sure it is possible.

    I researched about 64bit a little, and here's what I found.

    One guy tried it with Vista64 and he had to caliber the buttons in-game. It didn't show up on control panel. In game it was called JoyStick (20)

    Someone posted some 64bit drivers * http://www.4shared.com/file/41034572/1c815fbc/SIXAXIS_libusb-win64.html *

    A bunch of people got it working with this driver loader * http://premium1.uploadit.org/philds//sixaxisdriver.zip * (For 64bit)

    For tutorial for this - Install > Open program > Click Load Driver

    After it is installed, check and see if it works by...

    Start > Control Panel > Game Controllers > Click your device > Test tab > now press buttons on your controller.

    Drivers would have to be written for the tilt to function. It is definitely possible, but we'd need somebody familiar with creating drivers for hardware and reverse engineering in order to figure it out. Any takers?

    Any information in BlueTooth capabilities? When I try searching for it on my laptop, it doesn't find it, and the controller just flashes its lights trying to connect. Any ideas there?

    have you done the following:

    1. Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC.
    2. Run ps3sixaxis_en.exe once.
    3. Push the PS button on the SIXAXIS once if it doesn't see it straight away.

    Yeah you should use USB cable until it has installed the devive, then unplug the cable.

    Actually, it seems people have gotten Motion Sensor to work under Windows. =o

    Video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6DokGahx7A&feature=related
    Some beta drivers - http://onakasuita.org/ps3/

    And some more of beta.

    *** BtSix 1.1 ***

    http://bqron.free.fr/PS3/BT/BtSix1.1.zip

    - Motion Sensor (Beta) added. (Enabled by default)
    - Analog button added. (Disabled by default)

    Looks like its a no go. I've tried every driver set and every application. Windows sees it as a Playstation 3 Controller, however no buttons will work. Tried loading it up in NFS MW, which saw it, but no buttons worked. I beleive the x64 drivers were for XP

    I'll keep trying, but I think its a no go for Vista x64.

    I just did some research, and I found out that there are drivers for Vista 64bit. It's just that PPjoy and Sixbt doesn't support the 64bit version. But I really think there would be a 64bit version soon.

    Is the source for these drivers available or the authors contactable? I have experience with developing drivers for x64, and wouldn't mind porting the code.

    Better to buy a 360 controller. I had the PS3 controller connected to my PC, however it didn´t work out really good as the 360 controller does. Besides owning both a PS3 and 360 the PS3 controller is pure crap in my opinion.
