How could I use a PS3 controller on a Windows 7 PC? There are some PC games that are better played with a controller and I only have a PS3 controller available. Is this possible?

I know xbox 360 controller are plug and play for Windows7 PC.

MotionInJoy is an easy program to use if you are using via usb cable. I tried my best to get my bluetooth to work with the ps3 controller but to avail.

Yes this is possible. I use a PS3 Dualshock 3 on my laptop below with my laptop connected to my media center through HDMI (when I have a hankering for "console" gaming). I don't own a PS3, so this is my controllers primary purpose.

The program you will be using is called Motionjoy (click for download page). The guide for installing motionjoy and getting it working with your PS3 Controller can be found here. I'll touch on some main points below.

The process is fairly straightforward. First, you will need either a built-in bluetooth card (which is what I use), or a bluetooth dongle. As stated in the guide "MotioninJoy drivers will OVERRIDE your normal Bluetooth adapter's drivers, so only the PS3 controller can connect to it." I only use my built in bluetooth card for this purpose so it didn't concern me at all.

Follow the guide step by step and let me know if you have any issues :) . Also, FYI, getting the controller properly working with games can sometimes be a bit finicky. Sometimes I'll start the controller up, my computer will recognize the controller, I'll start up the motionjoy program, and the game I am attempting to play will not recognize the controller. Usually restarting motionjoy and rebooting my controller will fix the issue.

Edit: Didn't know where to really throw this in, but motionjoy has the abiity to emulate the Xbox 360 controller, so any game that is compatible with the 360 controller should work fine with the PS3 controller. I have tested many games and have no compatibility issues.

Get a PS2 to USB adapter.
