If you have a 120hz paired with a 1070, in some games on high/ultra settings, you aren't coming close to 120fps. I like to lock my FPS in at whatever my display is and you couldn't do that with games that don't hit 120FPS.

You should do a google search and maybe read through some monitor review websites because I can slightly recall that some people didn't recommend underclocking the monitor but I'm not certain.

    Hello everyone,
I've tried my best to make it work on my razer blade but the settings I enter in CRU don't show up neither in window's adapter settings nor in intel graphic settings even if the pixel clock of the settings I enter are way under the maximum capacity. I've downloaded and installed the drivers, ran CRU as administrator, refreshed the drivers and rebooted the computer but I still can't manage to make the settings I register in CRU appear anywhere... Can you guys help me please ?

    Specs : Razer blade 2016
    CPU : Core i7 Skylake
    RAM : 16Go
    GPU : Nvidia 1060
Screen : 3200x1800 multi touch display
    Storage : 512Go Pcle SSD

I managed to overclock my FHD blade only to 63, I suppose 5% is better than nothing. Not sure though why CRU isn't sticking on yours.

I took a jab with my laptop. It's an early Dell Inspiron 15 7567 with a crappy AUO38ED (B156HAN03.8) panel. With default timings, the screen has an almost unnoticeable artifacting affecting a pixel's red subpixel. It constantly flickers. Adjustments toward the timings fixed it. It doesn't seem to like going above 208MHz.

I'm not going to squeeze a bit higher as 90Hz is just 30fps*3. I have a 72Hz mode as well for those pesky 24fps films under SVP.

Try to match your timings to the default resolutions? Especially the sync polarity.

I am very happy to announce that I succesfully swapped my old Dell 7559's display with my new Dell 7577's display and viseversa. So that means that I now have an overclocked 7577 100hz screen! It's a perfect fit! Gaming looks so much better on a higher refreshrate. Why waste the capacity of the gtx1060 on 60hz gaming right? Used the settings in the OP for the 7559 screen. No artifacts whatsoever.

Oh well, it's better than nothing.

Hi, i've tested several refresh rates and the maximum i got was 100Hz on a AUO105C 1366x768 using the LCD Reduced timing set, but the artifacting is a lot, you can't even see the desktop at all, but these were true 100Hz, best i got without artifacting a lot is 1366x768 70Hz LCD Reduced, you can see just a little of it on the left side of the screen, I am using a Intel Pentium N3700 (Braswell) with the 15.40.32.64.4568 (20.19.15.4568) driver version, and Windows 10. It's an Acer Aspire R3 11,6"

I have to ask the same thing most people ask, is this going to harm the monitor over use?

PS: I did an account just to reply this xD, I can confirm that overclocking works on Braswell. (and because looks interesting people getting mentioned by his goals on the OC xD)

EDIT: I forgot to mention this screen has the 120MHz limit

That's not possible simply because 4K/60 completely saturates the bandwidth of the DisplayPort 1.2 interface that the panel uses.

Thanks to everyone that reported results, I updated the main post. Maybe a google spreadsheet eventually is a good idea.
Sorry for people whose questions were missed, if you are having trouble feel free to post again here or maybe ask over in the official CRU thread.

Yes, as the other user said this has been tested and it does work.

It seemed like you were doing everything correctly, hope you figured it out.

    Glad it worked for you!
In case anyone else with a LGD04B9 finds this, the max overclock I managed to achieve was 104.200Hz with custom timings. https://s9.postimg.org/qqpa18sbz/screenshot_7.png
Can't guarantee 100% stability for either of those settings since the left one seems to draw a white line on the right side of the every 0.000001% of the time. The right one should be fine since I've used it for at least a couple weeks but I wrote down last year that it didn't work so I dunno.

Thanks for confirming this works on braswell. I can say with some confidence that this shouldn't harm your display when done properly, but the artifacting is kind of concerning. I had an unstable overclock at one point that drew a purple line on the bottom of my screen and I just left it there for a while before switching my settings back. The purple line sort of burned into the display and gradually disappeared over the next couple hours. Maybe consider dropping the overclock? I

DDU your drivers, reinstall drivers directly from intel. Maybe download shutup10 and disallow windows from updating drivers. Try rebooting, grab the latest version of CRU for Win10 (1.3.1). Doublecheck pixel clock is below the limit. Reboot more. That's all I got lol.
Edit: maybe also reset the edid profiles (go into CRU and click delete next to all the times your monitor shows up, or use reset.exe included with CRU.), then try overclocking agin. there, now that's all I got

    Hi guys,

i'm still getting the "exceeds bandiwidth" error message while i'm running the last drivers.
Even putting full hd at 30hz or 50hz says "exceeds bandiwidth". I don't get it.

i got the same error...but you need to put the custom resolution into the custom resolution tool aka CRU program linked by the original poster.

from there make a custom resolution refresh rate and then reboot windows...open display adapter settings from desktop right click and load the refresh rate you created....

    i tested 90 and it works...pretty rad

Hi! Thank you for the guide! Here's my results:

    Laptop: MSI GS70 6QE Stealth Pro (17.3", 1080p, Skylake)
    Display: CMN N173HGE-E11 - 60Hz (140.00 Pixel clock)

Using my monitor's stock timings for 100Hz (233.33 Pixel clock) everyday.
"Reduced" doesn't work even with 80-90Hz (black screen).
Maximum stable refreshrate i can achieve is 105Hz with manual timings and at 106Hz it begins to artifact.
    "Success 60 -> 105" :)

    Laptop: Dell Inspiron 15 7567
Display: originally came with the LGD053F, but i asked for screen replacement hoping to get the AUO63ED one, but instead got a BOE06CB
Overclock: 1080p 80Hz stable with custom timing, anything more than that (more than 200MHz pixel clock) will cause the screen to lose its color, like a grayish, grainy screen.

I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on how to overclock it with different lower resolution, because i can't seem to get it to work. Putting it to the default LCD Native timings, with different resolution only gives a black screen. :(

    Edit:
Also, anyone got recommendation for good 15.6 FHD (1920x1080) screen that is overclockable or has high refresh rate, TN or IPS really doesnt matter, as long as its decent looking. :D
    (30 pin eDP)
    Thanks.

Generally, TNs will fare much better than IPS models and most will do 90Hz+ without a hiccup.

A great choice for your system would be the N156HHE-GA1; TN, crazy response time, 120Hz minimum (binned, actually), low blacks and a good sRGB coverage. Really, it was designed with fast-paced shooters in mind and the nice image is just a bonus. Only disadvantage is the premium; $50-60 is a fair price, but the GA1 is about $125.

My Dell 7577 stock 15.6" UHD panel ( AUO20EB - F2TW2_B156ZAN ) got a massive +3Hz more OC from 59Hz(stock, wtf? lol) to 62Hz(auto-standard) not messing with any timings manually. My external monitor (ASUS VW266H) went from 60Hz to 71Hz. Better than nothing. :)

Edit after someone very politely pointed out that I misread your post:

You may download CRU https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU or simply use the Nvidia Control Panel to create a custom resolution. However in my experience I have found that those don't always play as nicely and CRU works best IMO. Go into the CRU program and add a custom resolution with the refresh rate you want. Reboot and select the refresh rate from the display options. If the refresh rate doesn't work properly or black screens don't worry just go back to the old one. It may take some trial and error since you have to reboot each time to use the new custom refresh rates you create.

Umm, wtf? You are both clearly out of your depth.

1.) Why would GreatD need an Intel integrated graphics driver when he just said his is disabled?

2.) For me, current stock Intel graphics drivers will allow OCs now, so it isn't 100% necessary to use those older modded drivers, but that's besides the point here.

3.) GreatD has already been told (a few posts up) to perform the OC directly from his NVIDIA control panel- it's not that hard.

4.) There is no guarantee you will hit 90+Hz successfully.

Wow brother you need to relax, I misread his post and thought it said he had Optimus. It was pretty early in the morning well before I had my coffee. Seriously there is no need to be rude and most don't tolerate that type of nonsense around here. Thanks for the correction though!

Apologies to you. Sorry, it was early indeed. There's just something about ______ asking for help that refuse to take the advice of others who already set them straight that pisses me off. We can only help ______ people so much when they aren't willing to actually listen to what others are telling them in order to solve their problem.

No f***s were given in the writing of this post. That's just who I am and I'm not changing any time soon. I think the vast majority of the world are f***ing idiots who are just too stupid for their own good- but that's another conversation entirely. Good day.

That means its unstable OC, I reckon 61-63Hz would be an ideal choice for testing.

    Success: Surface Laptop 2017 i5 4GB (13.5", 2256x1504, Kabylake) MEI96A2 - VVX14T092N00
    60Hz -> 75 Hz [LCD reduced, stable]

Anything above creates artifacts (popping black horizontal lines and colourful vertical lines). I also tested 96 Hz with some artifacts but still was able to experience the fluidity. Anything above created more heavy artifacts taking over the whole screen. Played a little around in CRU with LCD reduced etc, no changes in the result. Used a 3d vision monitor for a year, I am missing the 120hz fluidity with my other devices. The 75Hz is noticeably better compared to the 60Hz, so I will keep it, 90Hz was a little bit more satisfying but it still is missing the subjectively infinite fluid animations of +120Hz. I am waiting for an edge to edge ultrabook (like the Huawei Matebook X Pro) with a high refresh rate. notebooks like the Aero 15X (144Hz) still look bulky to me, and I have no use for the specs of a gaming device.

nah, it didn't work, and when i installed this version again (i reverted it back on stable) my realtek lan driver just disappeared. tried to install it again, not working.

edit: it came back after a couple of reboots, strange lol.
