So who all is going to give this game a shot? It looks pretty good, with tons of customization. The amount of customization is actually pretty intimidating, but I think that might be a good thing![]()

I donated during the closed beta, is a fantastic ARPG. I recommend it.
The skill tree is epic and fun. -
I really like how they did things with the passive/active skills. It's fresh and really opens up a ton of possibilities. -
Already have Torchlight 2 and that already let's me create whatever class I want. I spent half my time as a Berserker (melee dual weapon class) as a Berserker mage, dual weilding wands and it was awesome.
Looks like a great game, but all these aRPG games are the same to me. -
Man I haven't played it in quite some time.. I should check out what's changed recently. -

2012 was the year of aRPGs and MOBA type games.
Even heard rumours about EA developing a Dead Space MOBA type game. -
I am around lvl 22 on hardcore league now. Its a pretty good game. The base system is different enough to be refreshing.

Tried PoE this weekend.
Wow, you sit down to play and look at the clock after what feels like 20-30 minutes, and its 6-8 hours later!
The character building is quite deep. There are a few things which need some tuneups, but this is still beta.
The graphics aren't anywhere near as bad as some say... the animations are a little dated, but the whole thing feels like someone was thinking when designing it.
I LOVE the idea that there is no gold. You barter. There are commodities that every exile needs and some that almost all would want.
The result is intelligent trade and people willing to haggle. The result feels real to the game design and story. (you are exiles from society!)
The skill gem system is quite detailed and there are many combos. Not all are viable at all levels and some need some tune ups in early-game and tune-downs in lategame and vice-versa. Some things do not seem to work as intended. (targetting of friendly pets seems clunky and unnecessary) Still, experimentation with skill combos and passives is rewarding most of the time. Yay for the return of the "pet build" that D3 scrapped. (its not ideal, but works in PoE)
The microtransactions are designed to not give any in-game advantage. Thus, you can have a really neato custom magic sword glow, but it gives no stats. You can have extra bank tabs or non-combat pets, but none of these help in PvE or PvP.
Combat starts slow... your character is weak to begin with and even a lowbie zombie can kill you if you aren't paying attention to your health. (makes sense, you are swinging a piece of waterlogged wood) This is in stark contrast to the 1-shotting hordes of mobs at level 1 with the default newbie weapon and absolutely cannot die even AFK from most mobs in Diablo3...
Just like Diablo2, sometimes you need to retreat while your health potion takes effect. Hit and run is sometimes necessary at all levels of the game.
Some things need work... they are obviously being overrun by their own success as servers are going down often. Mob AI needs a tune-up... They are still overall smarter than D3, but there are a few glaring problems.
I am encouraged by their dev staff listening to their testers and their willingness to help make the game even better without giving away the farm.
So far, so fun... very nice for a completely free-to-play game with no pay-to-win. -
Didn't want to remake a new thread. Just wondering who is still playing this? I am hooked still and I am looking for more people to play. Maps are no fun solo
IGN is Obento if you wanna party up sometime. -
I'm still playing, but I only play hardcore.
Worse, I have had no time to play lately due to moving.
:-(
Sad, as I was having fun. -
Started last week, Ninja loot(not sure who invent this term, been doing this since D2 and it is the norm) is awsome ! I think I am getting old though, prefer to just solo and duo with my bro.
