me and a friend just downloaded perfect world international yesterday. i started a wizard, and so far it seems like a pretty cool game. it was the most popular free-mmorpg in asian or somethin like that, and just made its way to america recently.
does anyone else play this game?

Hmm I've never heard of it but it looks alot like WoW, and I never liked WoW simply because they charge monthly and I think thats stupid
Since this game doesn't, I might be interested
Do you get to fight against others and everything, with online and stuff, or is it only multiplayer?
All details of it would be helpful
Also do you think its something a guy would enjoy playing?
(Can't tell if your male or female so excuse my rudeness, just the cover of the game is all girly and stuff so was wondering if your a guy than that already answers my question, if your a girl, do you think it'd be fun for guys?) Thanks -
The game is fun, but like every MMORPG, you need lots of time to play it. I played it instead of WoW because I wouldn't pay monthly for any game hehe.

i'm a guy.
and so far its pretty cool. the 3d world is huge. i've been runnin around for 2 days and i still haven't even really left my starting area yet lol. there is pvp and pve.
i couldn't really give u a whole lot of detail about the advance gameplay yet, but i am slowly tryin to learn it. there is a crap load of items and stuff u can do to items (upgrade/imbue/etc) and all kinds of pets and mounts u can ride. there is PVP and PVE. i've even seen a message that said something like this: "'so and so' has paid 1 million gold to declare war on 'so and so'." there are factions and all kinds of crazy stuff. check it out. -
Looks like a nice mmorpg. I've been looking for a free one since I quit ffxi a year ago, might look into this one.
-
http://www.playrequiem.com/ is a free that i can recall, for those that are looking for a free one. Got a bit of blood in it though

I tried perfect world when it was in beta and it was really suprising for free mmo. Graphics were very good, nice big world, lots of quests, overall top free mmo right now.

If you want a f2p mmorpg Runes of Magic is what your looking for. IMHO RoM>Perfect World in all aspects
RoM is in open beta right now http://www.runesofmagic.com/en/index.html

know where i can download the client for the US server?
-
i just went to www.perfectworld.com and there should be the international version available. that's the US version. i'm not sure which is the best/most packed server, but i chose heaven's tear.

Yeah it seems pretty nice
I played for about an hour just getting used to the controls and stuff since I haven't had much time, I just completed like the "kill ten monsters" quest and stuff. Seems pretty solid for the "Price"

Created a account the other night and, its actually a pretty decent game.

Don't mean to spoil anyone's fun, but this game was brought up several months ago and several of us NBR's tried it out. You guys are right, it is a solid well made and supported game. However, this game is designed around it's revenue generator, the item shop, and there is almost no way around it.
You can level up and play just fine to level 20. You can even solo your way up to level 75-100. However, if you ever want to involve yourself in the dungeons, raids, or PvP content to any level (yes even minimal), cash shop items are required. I.E. the level 20-30 dungeon cannot be done without cash shop items (similar to health and mana potions) until you're twice the level of the dungeon. If you consult long enough with the PWI community you'll learn of the Priests and Barbarians who spend over $100 a month to play as their class requires. After playing this game for a month and talking to the community, I decided paying $15 a month to play as I wanted was a better deal. -
Well atleast now we know how they make their money
Oh well might was well play as long as the "free-ride" allows than decide if its worth to pay -
Lol, I play on Lost City under "Pablomanan"
So far, I've had a lot of fun playing it, though the beginning was kinda slow. The christmas event that was held was by-far the best I have ever seen in ANY MMO I have ever played.
Look me up if you need some help, I'm a 41? archer atm
P.S. I haven't spent a single USD in that game. All in game stuff. -

As for needing the game items, there are some jobs that are greatly improved by these items. The clerics later on have high level spells that stay active and continue to drain magic. There are items in the shop that will restore your mp or hp to full after they drop below 50%. Items like that are incredibly useful, but when you do quest with a dozen people, there are multiple people with the same jobs so its not like one person is the only one who can cast the spell. When I played ffxi it was not uncommon to have 3 parties with 6 people each and then another 6-10 people on the side lines to swap in if needed. Thats just how mmorpg's work, you just end up having to play with others at some point. -
he said paying 15$ a month to play as he wanted was a good deal. IMO the 15$ is worth is it to be able to do everything in the game and not have any "hidden fees" i don't ever wanna spend real money for gear or pots but it sounds like perfect world could be a good alternative for someone who doesn't want to pay any money at all and doesn't mind missing out on a few things...

barbarians and clerics use the items. Everyone I have talked to in my guild says blademasters get along fine without the charms. Barbarians are used as tanks and clerics as the healers/damage dealers. I'm lv 31 now and passed the second dungeon and the game is starting to get to where I need help once in a while. Again there are over 30 people in my guild that are 70+ that say the items aren't needed. People that use the items are just lazy. Swapping people in when they are needed is a easy tactic to make sure people have enough hp and mp.
Other than pretty mounts and flying swords, there really isn't anything else in that can be bought that you can't get in the game for free. -

Some free games just sell perks, like cloths and cool items. Im one of the people that played this game. from what I can tell its not much of an option in this game after so far in, you have to have the items to upgrade your gear and get certain things.
Without it, unless you enjoy playing alone looking at everybody elses cool stuff and looking at the scenery your gonna have to pay.
I couldt really get into it because the control scheme and no inverted y-axis was the big deal killer for me.
I loved the anime like charm and the mounts are just out of this world (flying swords ftw)
I was on a pvp server too, probably items are more important on pvp.
Rorscharch's opinion is more informed that mine since he is an actual long term player. For me I will just stick with WoW on a private server. -
At lower levels if you want to upgrade gear it is true you have to buy the stones from the shop with cash to upgrade your gear. These stones add whats called sockets to your gear and each socket lets you put stones on to give benefits to your gear. After level 20 though I started finding gear that already had these sockets on them and I was able to start adding perks to my gear.

Very good game but a bit time consuming..
I've tried it and really liked it. -
just a little update:
i am now a level 24 wizard and did my first call of duty quest (fb19). a couple of level 60's - 80's helped me out. i'm startin to get more into the auction house items and learnin more about the advanced gameplay. i have got to say that this game is really keepin me entertained. i am really lookin forward to gettin those crazy rare (and shiney) items and gettin strong enough to get involved in faction/territory wars.
