I can't stand to play WoW. I don't play it enough for it to be worth the money.

This is a pretty slick game for costing nothing :)

Is this the best one out there that has the feel of Wow or similar to other MMORPG's?

you could try guild wars.....no monthly cost (beside buying the game) and it has the most epic pvp in all the mmo's out there on the market

I played GW for awhile, but I don't suggest it if you like an interactive environment. The whole pve setup is basically an array of 100 instances (with 8 players max the last time I played). Also there isn't really anything gained from the PVE unless you like grinding. 20 is the max level and all the items you find have pretty much the same stats after you hit about mid-way through one of the games (let alone all 4).
However, I will agree that the PVP is intense (and awesome), but in order to be competitive you'll need all 4 games and to have most of the skills unlocked (which takes a long time if you don't pay $$$ to unlock them). Most decent guilds won't take you (or will only use you as a sub) if you don't.

GW isn't an MMO in the typical sense. It's more like a toned down casual version of an MMO. play GW more than once in a while and you'll get tired o fit in the traditional sense. Some people end up finding new things to do such as trying and creating new builds and stuff, but in the typical storyline/plot, it isn't long lasting really.

It's meant so that you can play less time than the next guy and still be somewhat competitive(since the level cap is stuck at 20 and there isn't any in game advantage item-wise to grinding for the "best" gear).

Perfect world's pretty cool. It's got some annoying quirks, but it's really good for a free MMO. Atlantica Online is a good bet too.

You could give AoC a try if you have not already.

Although my experience with the game was not a good one, I can not say the same for others.

Lol because I sort of cheated the game mechanics and got the first lvl5 pvp gear on the server. Yep, and then they took all the gear away and put me back at lvl1 pvp.

haha It was fun, and it got me away from WoW for a few months. :p

I don't think WoW is really free. Monthly cost sux! oh Well.

I don't really play much MMO's, I know some friends who play perfect world. And a friend who plays rappelz which is a free MMO, and hes hooked on that.

Personally only MMO type game I play is Entropia. Its free, to some extent, its being upgraded to the CryTek game engine (Crysis Game Engine) so its going to be the most realistic MMO by June~ish. It has I think the largest land area of any MMO. And theres soon comming different planets that you can travel to. Its pretty good, but it pretty much costs to do everything since its a RCE. So, if you wanna go hunting, the ammo costs ped (currency in game) which has a real value. But if you get a big loot, its worth money too. Ive had a couple people I know get like $2,000-$5,000 loots and cash half of it out. But don't get set on it, ive been playing for years and never got a loot over $150. And majority of the time you will loose, unless if you merchant or trade or start some kinda buisness to make money off players and not the game. You can also sweat which is how you can get *free money, which is just gathering these bottles from monsters, it fails 90% of the time. And they have no NPC value, but other players buy it. Last time I checked it was like 6 PED for 1000 sweat, 1000 takes at least 2-3 hours to get. So if you wanna get money the free way in that game, you will end up spending 2-3 hours for 6 PED = $0.60. However good news is a basic gun/rifle starts at about 2 PED, and ammo is 1 PED for 100. But it goes quick when you move up. As you use better guns, they use more ammo, and they decay and you have to repair them.

Quite a bit of WoW players have gone on to Entropia. Some of them love it, others hate it. Some love it because theres quite a bit to do, and great people. Some hate it because leveling is tough, and theres many many skills, and all are worth lots, you can sell them. But for most WoW players who want to be the best dont realize that in Entropia, most of the top items can be worth thousands and thousands of dollars.

So anyways, free MMO's in my experiance the only ones I have experiance from myself or friends are:

    - Entropia (Fun, but is a money hole if you want to do lots, or you just needa be really motivated and have lots of time to spend).

    - Maplestory (Was fun, heard its not as good now)

    - Rappelz (Friend seems to be hooked on it)

    - Perfect World (Ive heard good things, but most people just play it to mess around)

Yea I have heard of people doing things like that. Its pretty sweet, its crazy how far Character Development in a fake world can go. Like even In Entropia I know some people who sold skills they don't use. Eg. Sell Melee skills if your using guns. And they got like $3,000. Of course they are very high skilled.

It depends what your looking for in a MMO though. If you want something fun/non-serious go for Guild Wars, Rappelz, stuff thats just there to enjoy.

More serious MMO's in my opinion would be like WoW and stuff were people really get into it.

As for most serious, Id say is Entropia, mainly because you can play it forever, its been around for a long time. And they keep updating. Theres no worry that 5 years from now no one will play it. And its rewarding when you find something worth money, or loot Nvidia Graphic Cards or real-world items. But its rare, frustrating, and you needa stay motivated.

Those are about the 3 categories of MMO's I can think of.
    For Fun
    Serious
    Hard Core

Perfect World runs great on my computer. How are some of the others for demands?

The one that is switching to try cry engine will probably be to demanding for my system after they change it over to that. I'm going to d/l it and give it a try though.

Will there be an option to stay with the current engine or do you have to run the new Cry engine?
