    Hi there,

just wondered in what way i will see my performance to increase as i am upgrading from 2GB to 3GB? (where will i see the increase? FPS increase, faster processing when video editing, encoding, higher 3D Mark, etc..)

    Cheers
    Chris :)
PS : got Vostro 1500, 7500 Dual Core2, 8600m GT, XP Home Ed.,

    Neither...

you won't see any fps increase, as that has to do with gaming power, which you're not really increasing. Also, ram does not increase cpu processing power, so you won't see any faster processing when video editing.

And with XP, 2gb is more than enough, so increasing your ram will not really do much. If this was Vista, then I would say you would have a little smoother multitasking, but not so much for XP.

Unless you are absolutely maxing out your ram, I say save your money as 3 gigs won't do you
    much over 2 in XP.

With XP, you probably wont need 3GB. Depending on if and what kind of games you play (ex: COD4/Crysis/etc) then MAYBE you will see a slight differnce.

No need for more than 2GB in XP generally unless you have tons of programs loaded in the background, which is bad practice in general anyhow when gaming.

I don't know that any game out there has more than 1.5GB or so memory footprint.

If you're upgrading RAM, replace your current memory with memory with lower latencies (provided your laptop supports it), you'll see a small performance increase in gaming at low/medium settings (when your video card isn't the bottleneck) and in apps that are memory intensive.
