Anyone else excited for the announcement of Persona 4 for the PS2? It's slated to be released in early December.

    Hell yes.

It was released in Japan yesterday and I've heard it's selling like hotcakes!

Did you play any of the other SMT games?

I spent 120+ hrs on Persona 3 and ~40 on the Digital Devil Saga Series (unfinished) and have Nocturne waiting :D

    Hell yeah.

I just started the journey in FES (I played 2 times the original and completed the answer when it got released).

I played a bit of DDS but stopped early on. It was the PAL version (*rolleyes*) and the screen didn't fit very well and well...

I also started Nocturne, I'm not that far in. It's giving me the creeps >_>

I heard that Nocturne was the best in the SMT series. Best meaning it's the most extreme in the way that SMT is set apart from the other JRPGs (difficulty and dark plot). It better be worth it... I dropped 75$ on a used copy on Amazon (and of course 2 weeks later I find a used copy at Gamestop :p).

I liked DDS, but its a bit more like the usual JRPGs than Nocturne and Persona. I like how SMT uses cultural influences usually untouched by most JRPGS such as European and Indian mythology.

I just wish that the Persona 1 and 2 games weren't so rare/expensive. Its hard to justify blowing over 100$ on a used PS1 game.

How much was it at gamespot? I know they did a reprint this spring so prices dropped quite a bit. (It was $44.99 new on play-asia)

Gamespot prices actually rose to $60 for a used copy (IIRC Play-Asia sells the Japanese version :(). The person I called noted that it cost more for the used copy than for a brand new one when it first came out :p.

Basically if you want to guarantee yourself a copy either preorder it or find it within a week because SMT games go really fast and reprints are rare.

Wow, you're right. There was a very recent reprint. I thought you were talking about the one that happened a couple years ago. I may pick up a new copy then, thanks!

Just checked amazon: The prices dropped from 90+$ to 35$

Yeah I hope to get that job so I can jump on them right away. I got them the other way but never really played and those are games that I'd want to own.

I don't think they reprinted many copies though, the local import store I go (that got me a FES on the 22nd here in Quebec City =D) couldn't even get one.

I hear you on that man. I walked three miles to pick up my FES preorder the day it came out :D. What was the other way that you got the games? And do you have any experience with the Growlanser series also developed by Atlus? I'm trying to eventually own all the games developed (not published, although Disgaea = awesome) by Atlus.

    ATLUS IS PURE WIN \o/

Growlanser is made by Atlus? I played V. Nice but frustrating. I had the package with 2 & 3. Made it near the end of 2 but I couldn't beat the mission >_> I recently traded it, but I made sure to dump it on my HDD before.

But I was one of the first in Canada to get it so =). EB only got them on the 28th, HMV on the 24th. I paid it 39.95 though >_>. This place has everything but games that don't get released at the standard price ($50 for Wii/PS2, $60 for PS360) are more expensive because of their dealer. I special-ordered Age of Conan there (they usually don't do PC games and EB gave me like, $15 in credit and them $45) and it was $60 rather than $50. He told me they paid it $48. They still have a sealed copy of the original P3, for $79.99

I hate bumping such an old thread, but I have a question about Persona 4 and figured I might as well use this thread instead of making a new one. Is it necessary to have any knowledge of past Persona games in order to get into Persona 4? I've heard the Persona series is a very good RPG series and I feel like checking it out. Persona 4 has gotten some rave reviews; that coupled with a nice pre-order bonus has me considering pre-ordering the game. I've also read that Persona will feel like a breath of fresh air in the RPG genre if I've never played one before.
