Signed it. Does anybody know when this thing was started? I signed about an hour ago and already 2000 or so people have added to it.
How many signatures do you think it would take to get the message across? Rather, do you think IW cares at all what we think? -

it was started about 30 or so hours ago, it now has 37466 Total Signatures
I signed and am canceling my preorder. -
Im not signing, IW know what they are doing, it doesnt take clever person to know that the pc community will not be happy with the news, the best way to make IW realise their mistake is to not buy the game...so thats what im planning to do.
-
Have ANY of these petitions EVER worked? I'm not saying I don't agree with it, I'm just wondering if it's really worth everyone signing and making a deal about it. As mtness stated, just don't buy the game.

But I want MW2.
-
I hear ya. It does suck when a quality product's sequel takes away something that you really enjoyed about the original. It's ok if they give you something better but in this case, they won't.
I am hoping the petition works. It's things like these that irritate me that so many fans of the game want or don't want something and it's clear, but the publishers / developers do nothing about it. I know sometimes it's too after the fact, but this could be added at any point it seems or a patch in the near future to support it.
Same thing with Starcraft 2. You have to be connected to the internet to play a LAN game. How dumb is that. Why do they do that stupid stuff.
I plan on buying MW2 because I really enjoyed the single player a lot, and barely dabbled with multiplayer. But I won't buy it for $60. I'll wait until it's $40 or less. I just can't justify the costs these days. -

I just signed the petition guys. I hope we do change IW's stupid choice.

not sure how it works in america but here in the uk you have to have a home address with a post code/zip code for it to be leagaly binding in a petition.
last online petition i signed had over 400,000 replys about the fuel/petrol prices of £1/$1.50 a litre and now they are £1.07
all i can say is good luck but dont hold your breath. -

This is the only game I've been looking forward to in a long time. I really only play FPS games and as such I don't play much of any other type of game. Really good FPS's only come around every so often and I was so excited for this. Besides this there's no other major FPS title except L4D which I feel is just a rehash of L4D1. I guess there's Bad Company 2...in March.
Why did they have to pull such a stupid stunt! Why would they not allow dedicated servers!?! In a way I can see that they want players of similiar ranks playing together, but rather than that how about a game balancing system which evenly distributes players based on ranks between the two teams in a multiplayer game?
Then they could basically require everyone to have only one online account like BF2 and make you log-on everytime you want to play MP. -
It's canceled preorders and lost sales which will really drive the message. If you sign, but don't cancel, you're a part of the problem.

I was looking forward to MW2, but raising the price to £55 ($90) 'because they can' is just not the attitude I want to sponsor. I like the community you get from dedicated servers and dislike the matchmaking system you normally find on consoles / L4D, so I think I'll pass on this game, there are plenty of other great releases around.
-
I signed yesterday, its up to almost 65k sigs today. But, I doubt this will change anything.
I was never planning to pay $60 for this, even with dedicated servers. The plan was to grab it for $50 @ Walmart hopefully. But with no dedicated servers and a pay per mod service in the works, I'll definitely wait til this hits the bargain bins for the single player.
And for the people defending the single player aspect, that's fine and all; but I beat COD4 in under 5 hours. Really short for a $40/$50 title, I only payed $28 for it, so no issues there.
So... if PC multiplayer is shot to hell, and single player is as short as COD4 (though excellent, I'll give you that), you would still pay $60 for this? -
-
Holy sheet almost 70k when I signed! I would prefer dedicated, but I will still buy it.
-
Even if you are still going to get it if you want anything to be done cancel the pre order and wait for a few weeks.

When this came out Saturday, there were over 2k pre-order cancels at Gamestop (US) that same day. I haven't heard a post weekend total yet.
Mine was canceled as well. -
check other thread for a 402 response to the petition.
-
I would hope those pre-order cancels would get their attention. Although I never understood pre-orders anyhow. You don't get any benefit and 99% of the time there's more than enough copies on release day.
-
Pre-orders allows you to be the 1st to get it. They normally ship a day before release date.

thats why i put it could be a hoax...

115k signatures now
i hope this will make IW to change their minds about not allowing dedicated servers on MW2 -
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
It won't, all they care about is money, and making pc games simple minded like console games.
-
And StarCraft II is cutting LAN support... I'm not a fan of the trend, but somehow, I don't think a bunch of whining (to be blunt) from what is a secondary market that they associate with thievery is going to materially change anything, I'm sad to say.
