First of all, there may be nofix for this as Intel may hae just stoppd caring (some time ago) - at least I can't find, and couldn't find anything in the past that spelled out a definite solution.

On my Vaio SZ71VN/X I have, at the moment, the latst Intel graphics drver.

In Photoshop CS4 I've enabled the "old GPU" function to use my Intel card.

If however, I crop a picture, Photoshop crashes - the important part here is though, its not cropping a RAW data file, its the "normal window" which is important.
RAW data files open a second window, in this one I can crop images... ??

On a side note, sometimes my X3100 seems to crash... DVDs or a computer game are the best way of "achieving" this... its not a dust buildup (at least not in any o the accessible places) - has anyboy got any ideas?
(The Photoshop on is the important one, it is quite handy to have GPU acceleration for some functions)

In that case the X3100 isn't even recognized.

Try 3danalyzer. It allows X3100 to emulate a couple of ATI/nvia cards. Might work?? See here.

it crashes my browser when I try to download it...

    Edit:
Found it via Google - its only aimed at specifi programmes, PS CS4 is not one of them.

    What OS are you using?
I don't have any GPU option (greyed out) in Win7 x64 RC and Photoshop CS4 Ext. Perhaps it's the video driver for Win7 that is not allowing for GPU function in my case.

    I'm using Vista Business.

Normally the otpion is greyed out.

You need the "old GPU fix" from Adobe to use it, and a reasonably new driver.

Nothing doing, I don't get the option for GPU acceleration. There aren't any drivers from Intel for the x3100 for Win7, only from MS.

Not for what we are trying to do with PS CS4. Otherwise, you are right, they do work fine.

Keep trying out the new drivers. Maybe the newer drivers have the support.

I've got the newest driver and the lazy people at Intel don't produce any new ones...

    Ok guys,

here is good news, at least as far as I can see after a very short time of testing. I'm running windows 7 professional and adobe photoshop cs4 11.0.1 on a x61 tablet, which has the x3100 built in. So far I had problems with any driver (old vista drivers, newest beta intel drivers, ...) not only in photoshop. Concerning photoshop opengl application, I experienced the same problems described in this thread (had to enable old gpus and then graphics driver crashes).

Well, I might have the solution now:

It's a modded intel 4 series driver, which works flawless so far for me. It's a modded vista 32bit driver, which seems to work fine under windows 7, too. Concerning photoshop there is no need for enabling old gpus like with the intel 4 series cards and at least in my short test I didn't experience any graphics driver crashes.

If anybody knows of newer modded 4 series drivers for the x3100 cpu, please let me know. I'm also interested in your experience.

Here are some links to the drivers, which I have from this forums, which should work:
