Ok, so I usually dis those cheap thrill little games like Peggle. But I couldn't stop playing Peggle. I dissed Plans vs. Zombies at first too. Now I started playing and it is quite addictive.
PopCap has the winning formula IMHO. Small download, cheap, and with good gameplay. This reminds me of games from the late 80's when your avg game consisted of a team of two or three developers, not dozens and dozens. Ingenuity is what it's all about.
That being said, I do have a couple reservations about Plants vs Zombies. One is that you have no indication where the zombies are coming from, this makes it an impromptu decision on what to place where. Maybe that's part of the game, but I think strategy should be more important than reaction, at least in most tower like games I've played (Defense Grid anyone?).
This wouldn't be as much of an issue if your plants could attack at least one row above or below in addition to straight ahead. Maybe you get plants later that do that, but for now they don't.
I'll play more and save my final thoughts for then.

Had that stuck in my head for 3 days after only viewing half of it. -
I've got over 25hours on this game, even after you beat it, there are plenty of mini games, puzzle, and survival modes to keep you interested, best $10 I ever spent -
All for $10 and 25MB. I think all developers should look at games like this and remember that simple and intuitive but challenging and unique are worth the effort.
8GB games look good, but 90% of the time they lack ingenuity and just rehash the same gameplay over and over. -
It tooks me 10hours, I finished the Adventure Part.
After all, I know some secret to earn money XD!
Use ZEN garden with your computer TIME. -
You'll get a variety of plants that can have effects such as stunning/slowing the enemy, as well as shoot across multiple pathways, homing, and area damage.
In most cases, I wait for the first zombie to appear before putting any offensive plants down, the plants will usually have the time to take down that zombie before it gets to do any damage.
It is a pretty fun game for the $. Definitely family friendly as well. -
ill get the game if it comes out for the ipod touch, gotta say, i love peggle on my ipod touch, so freaking addicting and so fun

yeah the mini games are fun too, especially that one where you play as the zombies, the ones with the pots is also fun too because it's intense if you get the wrong pots and start off with a whole bunch of zombies
-
I play Peggle on my iPhone, so I hope this comes out for it too. That would be amazing. Peggle has kept me occupied for long periods of time on my iPhone.

This game is amazing. I havent had a zombie go into the house yet. My strategy is pretty much unbeatable. Get sunflows in the first two columns, only put down pea shooters when you see the first zombie. The rest is easy.
-
AW actually endorsed the game for its PC gaming month
the song is like demon music...it takes over your brain -
I have to admit I haven't played such an addictive game in a while. Also it is all true with the music, so simple yet you can remember it. In a sense I think it is far better than peggle (as a whole game, since they are both different genres).
-
I had one zombie get plowed over by a lawn mower though. -
Wingnut, you harken me back to the days of the original Duke Nukem (flips + 3x laser!) and Commander Keen.
/swoon -
Yeah, ain't it great? I'll have to go back and play Duke Nukem 3D again, I never finished.
-
at least one great game at the beginning of the vacation... really addictive

I use a 25 sun spud for the first 2 zombies rather than a pea shooter, @ 25 sun vs 100 it lets me get all the sun flowers out faster so my sun income starts coming up faster.

LOL. Just got my eVGA Superclocked GTX 260 Core 216 in my desktop, and what's the first thing I played (after doing 3DMark benchmark) - Play Plants vs Zombies - lol. Good use of my video card, eh?

I actually get a bit of lag for some reason when the game scrolls over to the zombies @ start.
probably because its not using the video cards at all, or some kind of crossfire issue, not sure. -
Probably crossfire - serves you right for having power like that!
-
Just a 8800GT on my desktop and yea, I get that lag as I scroll over. The regular gameplay is fine.

If sure my 2.7ghz quad can handle it with no gpu help -
I dont get any lag, but i wish they had made the graphics better like in peggle nights.
