Yeah, it looks pretty cool...but you have to tie up both machines to do it.

    ...sick nonetheless.

802.11n/WiMAX and you can play anywhere? Not when your internet is bottlenecked at less than 802.11g speeds.

I'm guessing this will probably only work well within a home network. Pointless...

I think its a great idea, but I somewhat highly doubt that a video game can be effectively streamed on wi-fi or mobile broadband speeds.

I am more than sure this is on a gigabit ethernet home connection.

Still games that do not require split second timing may be possible.

no you can't stream it over the internet.

you have to be on your own local high speed network.

you take your OWN computer in your home network, and the signal is going straight from your computer through your router to your laptop. no internet involved. maybe not even a router involved. direct wired crossover ethernet or the 802.11 wireless equivalent.

so your computers have to be very close to each other to stream the video.

At least there is chance of running the game at some screen native resolution with feasible hardware and high settings

According to StreamMyGame.com you are actually misleading... it's meant for broadband access, you can even check there what bandwidth is required depending on the resolution, in essence the player sends keypresses and mouse events and gets back a series of 2D images. See the youtube recordings, the games are quite fluid, if the "server" computer is fast enough and you have the required network bandwidth.

For 720p highdef resolution the bandwidth required is 8Mb/s==1MB/s... you may not get that on EDGE and simple 3G :p but is not too much for the usual internet/WIFI connections.

It is actually a working solution for playing on a ultra-portable and it has a Linux client.

this requires 8mb/s of upstream at home, besides 8mb/s downstream at your remote location, the 8mb downstream is not that hard to find. But at least here in brazil there is no 8mb/s upstream

Well the only thing it needs to send is the keyboard/mouse commands and the video feed. Since the screen your playing it on is a very low resolution you should not be streaming 720p more like 480 at the most.

Still tho when you go look at youtube videos and things its not like instant it takes a second to load, most videos prebuffer before streaming, and in this situation thats not possible.

I have a very fast connection at home for internet. Fiber Optic, and even still its only 1.5mb/s upload.

But it begs the question: Why? Who's going to sit next to a sick desktop, just to play a game on a Fisher Price Eee?

So its basically just slingbox only for games instead of cable? Neat idea, but not very practical, just like slingbox was neat, I could watch whats on my cable box anywhere I had computer and a highspeed connection, only trick was I had to watch what the roomies were watching or vice versa.

Can you remotely start the game from the host PC?, or do you have to fire them up individually? Say your 1000 miles away from home and want to stream a game, can you just start the software on the "parasite" machine? Or do you have to call a roomie or whatnot to start things up?

Now we just need internet connections to ramp up, and then services will start selling "Remote Gaming Services" that stream gaming like this to your crappy GMA 950.

This has HUGE potential...at least until integrated graphics catch up.

As long as the client on the remote computer is active (and assuming your computer is powered on and on the internet) you can start or even do some remote activities (there is a list of applications that are compatible, so for instance you can use your MS Office on remote, through StreamMyGame).

Just check the requirements and explanations, people, they are posted on the site.

Well, people are starting to have FTTH connection that can go up to 1gpbs. In some near future, you could play at distance through a VPN

PS: Didn't see the other 2 pages

yeah, upstream connection must be very fast to make it usable. Unfortunately only downstream speeds have improved drastially over time, not upstream, and for good measure. They don't want home users setting up their own servers.

I don´t see the point with it. Unless you can have your desktop on at home and play if you are in the car 200km from your home. But this is just pointless, unless I misunderstood everything :)

Yup but FTTH & (Japanese) satellite connections speeds are dual-way. So 1gpbs is up+down combined. Although japanese satellites have a really high ping so I doubt they would work for that.

Still, in future, when we have uberfast connections it might become a viable option if you don't mind playing at a lower resolution.
