Hi people!. I need your help.

I need to play old games on my PC. I already do play DOS games via DOSBox.

But I can't play Hexen II (the most important one). System Shock 2. And a couple of other games.

Hexen II won't even install. The setup.exe seems to open a DOS-like window that closes almost instantly and nothing happens then. Same with System Shock 2 and Quake I. I already tried every possible method involving the "compatibility" thing under right-click-prefferences.

Any hel will be greatly greatly appreciated. Hmm. there's also a port of the game but franktly I want to play the original one...

not sure if it's of any interest to you, but Hexen II can be downloaded on steam for only 4.99, and it will most likely work perfectly fine

System Shock 2 is totally playable on Vista, but you'll have to google the fix as I don't have it handy anymore... There's a couple simple little tweaks you have to make, but it does run perfectly once setup correctly. I did it on my last pc, but haven't gotten around to installing it yet on this one, but do plan to. Search and you should find the page with the detailed directions, I found em about 6 months ago and they worked.

As for Hexen, quake, etc, they are all playable on Vista as well, but I'm not sure what it requires... I bought the ID superpack when it was half off on Steam, and it loads all the old games perfectly fine in Vista, but uses a bunch of command windows, dosbox, etc, all automated and works great, but not sure what all it's exactly doing... so, if you are just after that one or two games, might just be worth picking it up on Steam.

*EDIT: Just loaded up Hexen II, it does in fact work perfectly fine in Vista through steam, so it is possible for sure.

*EDIT 2: Check around here, should get ya up and running:

Hexen 2 was one of my past favorite games. I was looking for the add-on for the longest and never did find it.
