    Hi,

1st time i (newbie to laptops) am getting a laptop, so i was planning to get Dell 6400 (X1400 or Go7300) or M1210 (X1400 or G7400), just wanna check if the above cards able play smoothly at max graphics for the games (WoW, BF2, CoH, HL2)?

And which laptop would be a better choice for value and gaming? 6400 cheaper than M1210.

    No. Medium settings at best.

If you want to play with better settings look at a model with atleast an x1600/Go7600.

And don't get the x1300 or the go7300 as those cards are just to weak.As for your question, the 6400 with the x1400 runs games slightly better than the m1210 with the go7400.

Don't expect to use Antistrophic filtering or HDR in any games.

No, not really, but you should be comfortable. If portability is your thing, go with the M1210. If it's value, go with the 6400. But neither will really be able to max out those games. And without enough RAM, no game will be able to max out BF2, so keep that in mind as well.

Neither one of those systems are true gaming systems, if portability isnt a high priority, you can find sveveral laptops from other vendors with x16/1700's and 76/7700's in the same price range as the M1210, those cards will give you double the perfomance of the 1400/7400.

yea portability is quite important as i will be carrying around for reporting and presentation but at the end of the day will be spending time playing my games. Definately will upgrade to 2gb Ram also.

If you are primarily playing WoW, then the 7400 will easily meet your needs. I run it almost daily on my M1210 with everything maxed (30-60 fps without anisotropic filtering, 20-30 with). Also, for WoW, the Nvidia tends to give a better experience, judging from my performance with a 7400 versus my boyfriend's performance with an X1400.

Yea you can run WoW at max without a hitch. Other games, you're gonna have to lower the settings a bit to get decent framerates.

yea i am on WoW most of the time, so i guess 7400 or x1400 should be fine. Thanks for the input.

For that sum you could go for a better card, like X1600/X1700 or 7600/7700. ;)
