I know there are several here that play it and 1000's around the world so I was thinking it deserves a thread. I've only played about 4 hours worth so far and die regularly . I did make it to #6 yesterday. It is a lot of fun to play and even watch on Twitch.

I'm loving it and it's addictive. It still has some bugs but they release patches and updates often. You can play solo, duo or squad.

I also love the game, its a really nice balance between fast pace and survival based tactics, the devs are pushing out fixes/updates most weeks atm. they have lots of servers for different locations around the world, I've played on NA, Asia and Oceanic and ive never had to wait more than a few seconds before finding a game, yes searching for games is near instant, and at a decent price point I recommend it to all my friends.

 

It certainly has a Dark Souls feeling in which if you end up dying, your left with the feeling that you've made a mistake that resulted in the loss rather than blame the game for it.

 

I'm getting better. Had a 4th place with 5 kills today. Watch Grimmz or Anthony on Twitch to see some great players. They played a duo very early this morning and had a chicken dinner.

 

I'm always dissecting my losses to figure out what to do different.

 

I'm also starting to get a little better too, placed 3rd with 6 kills, then top 10 5 games straight, before getting cocky and bombing out for the next 2 hrs

 

Never been a huge fan of the survival games like Day Z and never played it or H1Z1 which I think is similar to this, but my Steam friends list has increasingly been changing from any other game to Battlegrounds all the time, so I finally caved in and bought it since it was only 30 bucks and I've put over 15 hours in it over the past few days I have had it. I die a lot and get destroyed in solo atm, made it down to ~15 or so people left alive but I was out of action for most of those games and did not get many kills. Been enjoying it most with at least one friend to team up with and play and been having a blast. Made it down to 5 people left last night in a duo game before we died . Played a few squad games with 3 friends last night as well and was getting 3-5 kills a game in there. Happy I decided to try this game out it's been a lot of fun.

 

Yeah, learning from mistakes is a must. Better to be cautious and careful than reckless.

Figure I'd share my lessons:

• Travel on the side of inclines and declines, don't expose your silhouette from the top of a hill
• Always listen for footsteps
• Don't trust flipped cars

Would love to see a lobby option for FPS only mode.

 

Mods are coming to the game eventually, and I'm sure we will see FPS only servers. The game is great fun and well worth the money. The latest game patch greatly increased the overall feeling of fluidity in the game in terms of picking up items, and interacting with the environment. It also gave a healthy boost in terms of fps/performance. This game is not like Arma or Day-Z, it runs much much better. I'm well over 100fps at times, something neither of those games ever game me.

 

Sounds like me. I get in top 15 frequently, but a lot if it is because I don't encounter many people, just constantly scavenging and hoofing it to the next safe zone. I won a couple times though with only 3 kills.

This game is fun but still needs a LOT of work. Been trying to convince my long time Battlefield buddies to pick it up since we all kinda got away from BF for numerous reasons. Seems like it'd be fun to play duo or squad with people you know.

 

The new patch was great for a few days but I've been getting some lag again after I first land. It also seems harder to find (good) loot. Most of the time I'm just carrying it around to give to someone else anyway. The new desert map is looking good!

 

I have the most fun when I play with friends in a squad that actually communicate and work together I think that's when it's at it's best I don't play solo a ton. Excited to check out new maps though.

Seems I'm always lacking a backpack, and it sucks because I'll find a ton of good loot with no backpack, and then I find a home with like 3 or 4 level 2 backpacks, but the places with the loot are in the no go zone by then.

 

This game is getting more and more frustrating. Definitely bugs galore and/or cheaters. Had a house completely full of smoke. I knew someone was there, so I threw three smoke grenades in different areas and I couldn't see a damn thing. I only heard two rounds of shots from him and hit me dead nuts both times and killed me. Either super lucky or was able to see through smoke. I dunno. It gets frustrating when stuff like this happens.

 

Gotta hate cheaters - absolute scum of the earth.
Have you encountered groups of people wearing red shirts trying to recruit people to work together? They're a bunch of tools. I recommend letting them find weapons for you then put them down and collect when you get the chance - don't forget to teabag them after

LOL. That's the truth. Found that happened to me last night actually. I wasn't paying attention then I see the blue wall moving in and realize I have a long haul to be safe. I get just inside the safe zone, go prone and get picked off immediately.

This game needs serious optimization too. It's using nearly 12GB of RAM and 6GB vRAM. At least GPU utilization sticks to around 100%. But it seems to only use one CPU core.

 

I read somewhere that smoke is client-sided only as it renders differently for everyone. Stupid.

 

I can't for the life of me make this game to utilize my CPU at all... it is so unoptimized. Also I get better fps with some higher settings than everything on low. Additionally, all tweaks make it worse.

And the cheaters, christ is there a lot! I give up

 

They have banned over 25,000 cheaters. I don't understand how it is fun to win knowing they had to hack to do it. Scumbags.

 

Better than Ubisoft's The Division.

 

I don't get it either. I bet they talk themselves into the idea that they're winning because they somehow think they're hardcore hackers using kiddie scripts. I'm suprised there is so many hackers actually. That's disappointing..

 

At least they are being pro-active in banning them. I watch Anthony_Kongphan and Grimmmz Twitch streams a lot and fortunately you don't see cheats often, but you do see them. That aside. I have a clip of a cheater in my game. Just happened to be on my team when me and a friend played. Reported it right away. You dont see them often. The blatant ones would be the instant headshots with a 9mm across the field through a window.

I find getting to top ten easy. The real enemy is the game engine... costed me 4 games in second place now.

I'm still having fun with the game, its it perfect.....?....nope, but its still fun as heck to play, id rather take a top 20 6+ kill over a top 10 2 kill match any day, fortunately I'm not playing on NA servers so people actually run around instead of planting roots in homes.

1st Person coming next monthly update!

 

What I like about this game is also rewards tactical play for those who are that way inclined. The more I play it though the more I go looking for trouble. Maybe too much to ask but I'm hoping they add foot steps or trails in wet weather.

 

just saw today that pubg will release "first person servers" next "update" I think this is a really good thing.....I do have one concern though, and that it might encourage even more camping, I mean in fps games camping in a corner is expected right.......for me this will hurt the game even more than it is already, here's hoping they work out a way to balance this somewhat.

 

I need to check this thread more frequently! Really excited about 1st person, it'll really even the playing field and player's reliance on audio will factor even more.

 

I'm really looking forward to first person only servers. This third person crap makes it nothing more than an arcade shooter. Problem is that there will probably be some hacks to allow third person in first person servers.

 

I can't tell you how much I hate hacking. Hopefully they get that under control. It ruined GTA5 online too.

 

they have been very active with the bans of hackers, im really hoping to see more reliable forms of monitoring as the game progresses.
i was watching grimmmz stream yesterday and he played a first person only game with his subs, it was a different game completely, lots more tactics and a fairly even playing field for everyone. it was funny after he died he commented on the remainder of the match, and at one point a dude was camping on a roof and went prone he then had to stand up immediately as he couldn't see anything, so no more 3rd person camping with 360 degree views really looking forward to it.

 

It will definitely shake up the way the game is played. I like how the swivel cam of the 3rd person won't be abused but I'm also cautiously optimistic at the same time. It's refreshing having a 3rd person game so I hope it doesn't somehow loose its inherit charm. We'll see.

 

well the good thing is there are so many players and its just another option, so i suspect there will still be heaps of games in both 1st and 3rd person modes

 

They need a kill cam, that would help determine hackers.

That's a good idea. It could cause problems with giving away positions in duo or squad play though. But I guess they could just as easily show the kill cam once the whole squad is wiped out .

 

i have to agree with TboneSan although in theory having a kill cam would be a great option it opens up the flood gate for different forms of cheating, and im sure im not alone here when i say even in solo's there are the occasional "team" I've come up against, if i did manage to take one of them out then to have my position isolated would really pee me off. i think the devs need to address cheaters, camping and circles first and foremost.

 

I don't know. It could be on a timer where it won't show until 60 seconds or so after you're dead, by which time the situation should have changed drastically.

I like kill cams personally, it really helps you get better too.

 

yeah i really like this idea a lot tbh, this is a perfect solution, 60secs isn't a long time but its long enough to relocate, and it might even help with campers, if there is communication between teammates and one team is camping if they choose to stay put after a kill then so be it.....great idea mate.
