I think that for output only, I don't think any notebook have video input I/O port

you need an external tv card which attaches through usb usually or I think it's the pci express slot on side of most laptops... almost all the internal hdmi/svideo/vga ports are output only and not input. Unless it's an internally built in tv card.

I hear Haupppauge are the best options but not sure. Also if you get a pci express card one make sure the hmm adapter that hangs out doesn't get hit or anything else it can break easily from what I heard.

All usually cost about $100+ for a decent one.

Using a tuner card will achieve poor results in image quality and lag times. I do not recommend it.

I've done it with my Xbox360 when I used to own one. There's actually no delay on it, no more than a standard 30Hz screen. It's limited to 480i so there were some pretty visible scanlines that annoyed me, but atleast it works. It looks about as bad as playing the console on a screen from 1990.

To do it you have to use a TV tuner or input device that accepts composit in. either that or use an RF modulator between the TV tuner and the console. Luckily the one I used accepted composit and S-video in.

I can't remember exactly, but It was was an Express card tv tuner from HP that came with a couple dongles that connected to this really tiny port on the card. One of them was composit in. And I used it in conjunction with my notebook's bisoncam software for the webcam since that lets you scale the image to any size.

Be aware though that not all TV Tuner cards or dongles support the PAL 60 signal for the Xbxo 360 that we in the UK are forced to use on many games.

I have an Avermedia HC82 express slot card and it does not work at all well with the Xbox 360.

Having said that I also have an Avermedia E501 cardbus TV tuner which works fine on another laptop with the Xbox 360. Just a shame I can't use it on my new laptop due to the lack of a cardbus port...

I've played PS2 on my laptop via a usb tv tuner, pretty laggy but playable, as long as you are not playing a game like guitar hero that relies on timing and response you should be ok.

But overall not really worth the hassle IMO

The Gamebridge 1400 and 1410 are virtually lag free except for a small delay in sound. The only display 480i. Adapter stopped making them though so you have to search the usual reseller, ebay and amazon. The 1400 usually goes for around 50$. The 1410 has a pc tuner as well and goes for $70-80.

When you could get them new they went anywhere from $10-30. :D I love mine, has been working for 2.5 years with no problems. The thing is ridiculously small and weighs practically nothing. I've always wonder why Adaptec stopped making it.

It doesn't natively support Vista, but there are guides for workarounds. One word of caution, the gamebridge only works on the laptop screen and will not work on an external.
