Hey, I bought WC3 a while ago, and everything worked fine. my CD however, doesn't work anymore (scratched up). I'm wondering if there's a program I can download that will allow me to play the game, without having the use the CD. I have my CD key and everything.

    Thanks in advance.

    www.gamecopyworld.com

This is not a hack or piracy site. It's simply a database of .exe files that allow you to play all PC games w/o the CD/DVD. I believe it's still up and running. I can't check right now because I'm at work and "WebSense" blocks out all words "Game".

You'll need to download a No-CD crack which, since you bought the CD, it is not illegal. Still, you'll find a crack for that game in kind of illegal places or P2P programs, like eMule, Ares, etc.

No, he doesn't. He can use a program like Daemon Tools, and try to get a legit copy of the game on his drive, then use it through an emulated CD drive.

Polish out the CD. Clean it thoroughly with distilled water, and you may consider lightly scrubbing it with toothpaste. I've repaired a lot of scratched CD's that way, usually audio discs though. Don't rub too hard, and make sure you use even pressure.

I always use NO-CD cracks because carrying CDs everywhere is too difficult.

If your disk is ruined -- I found this screen cleaner for notebooks called "Monster Cleaner", purchased at Radio Shack, works wonders on scratched disks.

Follow the link... go to a North American Server, and search for the game you need. Most of the downloads are just modified *.exe files that you'll need to replace the original with so that the game doesn't ask for the original.

For Christ's sake, that's too much work. Just download the *.exe file, swap it with the original, and you're done.

As long as he never plays a network or Internet game of WC3, then the fixed .exe will work. I've had very spotty luck with games playing online with the "fixed" exe's, hence the suggestion to use Daemon Tools.

To use Daemon Tools, download it and install it. There are guides, menus, everything you need to create images from CD's that it will use.

    - Download Fixed Image #1

    - Extract the files somewhere.

    - Right click on the .mds file and mount it with Daemon tools.

    - Play the game!

Actually for WCIII there is a no-cd crack for the latest version that works with online play (Im using it), but every time they update you have to wait awhile until someone cracks it again; though they don't update it very often.

I don't have it yet but when I click on the file(or what I believe to be the file) it goes red for a second then nothing.

I use Alcohol 120% for emulation of all my CD based games (some DVD games, too). It's easy and works very well.

But I understand that even using daemon tools, some CDs have a security copy system, that is not pass to the ISO file that plays in the virtual drive. So you still need a crack. Am I wrong?

Before I type, I own every game I buy.

I use exe cracks after installing the game to play with no DVD. Far easier for noobs like me than learning about virtual drives and whatnot. This method not failed yet.

Main reason is Starforce. No I do not know whether its true. No, I do not believe everything I read on the internet. No, I was not about to take the chance :)

It's easier that way. But it will almost always screw up your ability to play the games on the network. Which is why I recommend the drive emulation ;)

Also, if you play your game in the virtual drive, you'll have to use extra 3-9 GB of HD, which it is not necessary if you crack it.

Why not just burn a copy of your friend's W3 disc? You still have your own CD key so it should be fine.

This discussion is kind of borderline; the OP has gotten plenty of advice and I'm going to close it before anything bad happens.
