Hello all:
I posted this in the Linux section, but due to lack of response, think that maybe this is a better place to post it.
I'm getting a new Toshiba laptop in the near future. I'm leaning toward the P205 at the moment, since there's a customizable version and I really want Bluetooth without breaking the bank.
Now I'm not much of a gamer, but as of late I've gotten myself hooked on the open source game Sauerbraten. It's not too demanding from what I can gather, though, as I said, I'm not a gamer.
As a Linux user, I'd like to avoid the ATI graphics that come in the new Santa Rosa P205 line. So I'm wondering if anyone could tell me how Sauerbraten runs on the X3100. I'm sure most people have never played with this game, but I'd like to know if anyone has played with it on this IGP or if anyone would be willing to download and let me know how the performance is.
And yes, I know that the performance on Windows may not be exactly the same as on Linux, but I figure it'll be in the ballpark.
Thanks.
- Trip
EDIT: Let me just add that the Sauerbraten website says this about needed video hardware:
"Typically, to run Sauerbraten at playable speeds on minimum settings, you'll need at least:
1GHz or higher CPU, 256MB RAM and a GeForce 4 MX or equivalent GPU.
For maximum settings, you'll need at least:
2GHz or higher CPU, 512MB RAM and a GeForce 6600 or equivalent shader model 2.0 GPU."
I have no idea where the X3100 would fall on that scale.

I can only imagine it'd run well, if not very well. The game works well even on old MX based cards, which at this stage are useless for almost anything, and are far, far behind the X3100 performance wise. Especially with the new drivers, I'd imagine the 3100 will pose no problems.

I can't get it to run on my X3100 (Vista 64)....
Exception thrown during startup. Something having to do with the shaders I think. -
