Yeah, it's possible, but your Laptop will require a TV tuner card and most likely a HDMI adapter for the card's input. That being said, the lag from the 360 to the laptop's LCD will probably render many games unplayable.

Laptops will probably have HDMI OUT, to display the laptop screen on an external display, no HDMI IN to allow things to be displayed on the laptop, so No. And as the person above me rightly said, technically possible with a capture card but will induce a half second-ish lagg which render games useless.

What if my laptop does have HDMI input? Well it be able to play the games smoothly as if it was on an actually television?

ALL notebooks/laptops with an HDMI port are HDMI-out ports (same as VGA ports on notebooks). You can not plug any console systems into your notebook and play it on your notebook screen.

Smooth probably, but as noted, you will likely experience a video lag. This will manifest as apparant control input lag. Not a good playing experience, in other words. However, if you want to get fancy just to record playback, you could split the signal, running one feed to a TV for live playback and 1 feed to the lappy for recording. However, I think HDMI splitting is non-trivial, due to the construction of the cable and HDCP.

Its possible, but you will need a middle man.

The best one being a HAVA, its both HD, lag free, and very cheap for what it does.

No HDMI, you will have to get a pair of component cables.

hmm as a side note... didn't HDMI allow for bi-directional traffic? or are things just limited on the port/laptop interface?

It's a one-way street, but really limited to the port. TV's of course typically will have an "IN" port, and most play devices (laptop, cable box, Blu-Ray, etc) will have "OUT" ports.

^ actually, 1.3 is 2 way. it lets the tv remote control the dvd player so it must be. but not with video of course.

yeah, its rather dumb really. MANY college students don't have TVs, if they made a linux boot, rather than windows, to play some kind of input this should be a huge hit.

Well, HDCP is also 2-way, technically.

Were it not for my 32" LCD in the dorm, I'd love to be able to use my laptop LCD.
